How I wore it this time - YouLookFab Forum

Every year I attend my APW (Alliance of Professional Women) holiday luncheon. It's always special and this year was no different. I bought and wore a silver sequined skirt last year and wanted to wear it again this year but didn't want to look EXACTLY the same. So I added a different sweater (Anthropologie Alani cashmere mock neck) and completely changed the vibe with my Blondo Dahlia black booties (I just can't get the YLF clipper on my computer.)

It was a fun change, but in terms of personal style, I felt so much better in the dressier outfit (with pumps). That said, the "very peri" sweater is super comfy and my FAVORITE COLOR!

I'm open to other sweater suggestions with the skirt...I think I remember the charcoal one being a little hot, lol.

I love that you wore the same skirt to the same function two years in a row, Dana!

The outfit last year with the pumps and dressier top is GORGEOUS! But this years relaxed version is FABULOUS! (What colour were the boots?) You look better in periwinkle than grey to my eye so there is that.

Here's a future thought. Combine the two looks:

wear the periwinkle casual sweater with the pumps and skirt, and add the blingy brooch

Angie, I have an idea for the brooch on the sweater...although, I'm not quite sure I can wear the pumps due to my PF...maybe next year. The boots were black. (Also, charcoal is typically a great color on me...I think that's a funny filter I used.)

You look gorgeous in both outfits. I remember last year’s one as I really loved that. I have a similar top to your skirt that I bought in 2002, I keep it in the dress-up cupboard and it recently fit again!
I am with you that I feel better more dressed up but that periwinkle sweater is a lovely colour on you also.

Thank you all for your nice comments!! PSA, I got the very last sweater in the periwinkle in the store, Anthropologie. If there's every anything you've seen on line and don't see it in the store, ask. I'd asked my salesperson if there were any other colors in the sweater that I had found already in mint green...she found my favorite color in the back! I was also looking for a dress one time and they found it in the back...it wasn't the exact right size but I was able to try it on, confirm I liked it and then order a size up.

Oh I remember this outfit from last year because the pin on the shoulder is so eye-catching ! Such a beautiful skirt too I love both looks and envy being able to wear such a pretty colour as your periwinkle sweater .

I think with this skirt you could even wear with tall boots or trainers or wear it in summer with sandals. It's great!

I always wear the same thing to the company xmas party. That’s fun. I did change to a gaudy wrapping-paper patterned suit when my gold lame disco pants bit the dust, tho. Hehe

Sal, I agree that dressy boots would look fab. I don't actually have any dressy tall boots-skinny calves and ankle problems make it hard to find the right ones. I can totally see a strappy sandal and will keep that in mind for summer...high heels for a lovely dinner out.

Roberta, thank you! Yes, the holiday luncheon was great. It's an amazing group of women. This was the Oxford Hotel (Denver). We had the luncheon for years at the famous Brown Palace which was also wonderful!
