How do you store your scarves?

I loop mine over a pants hanger...the kind with the cardboard tube bottom...and then just hang them like a regular hanger in my closet. They are kind of piled on and take 2 or 3 hangers.

I'm wondering what is a better way.

That's very close to what I do. I have one hanger that is designed for scarves with actual holes in it. I also have pants hangers with shower curtain loops that I put the scarves through. I like it much better than digging through a drawer and the scarves have a chance to air out.

I hang mine on a scarf hanger.
If you do want to use a drawer you can wrap them around your hand and place them in a single layer, easy to see and no tangles.

I have mine all rolled & in a lid-less container inside a drawer. I used to be such a scarf person but only seem to wear them for warmth now.

I keep them in a shelf hanging wardrobe storage unit, with t-shirts and sweaters and it is *not* a good way to keep them. I need to change this, so that I can see them all and choose the one is better for the outfit I am planning. I had though of simply hanging them all in a regular clothes hanger, maybe with the help of pegs for the small scarves. I think this might work. I have a total of about 8-10 scarves.

I have lots of scarves. The ones most in rotation for the season are stored rolled in a shallow dresser drawer. Others are stored divided by major color in clear plastic shoe boxes stacked in my closet and are still easy access. I hope to edit down my clothes enough this year to make room to hang the most used in the closet on those pant hangers that hold 4-5 pairs of pants on bars.

I made a chain of shower curtain loops, threaded a scarf through each ring and hung the whole thing from my over the door belt rack.

I have the ikea scarf hanger hung on the back of my closet door. I quite like it.

I do the same as you, Peri. I've tried many ways, but this works. I've folded and rolled and used scarf hangars and it doesn't work. I need them hanging neatly in my closet where I can see and choose the ones I want.

Actually I think this is an excellent method: you are recycling resources and using them wisely!

Peri, you and I are soul sisters. We ask so many of the same questions!

Here's my thread on this a while ago that got tons of great responses!

Since then, I've been using one of those IKEA boxes for mine. It's not ideal (some of them get a bit wrinkly) but it's also really space saving in my cupboard and I think it keeps me from buying too many without purging, you know? I do keep scarves a really long time (like decades) and I think that's okay. But at a certain point it's nice to refresh them a bit and get rid of the chaff.

I've tried scarf hangers, but they seem to really make the wrinkles in scarves deep. It is clearly apparent when I take them off a scarf hanger that they were looped through it a certain way, and they have the creases to show for it. So I keep mine gently folded in a velvet box on a shelf. Because they get folded slightly differently each time, the creases never have a chance to really develop, and the box is moveable so it is easy to take it off a shelf to see what is in it.

Y'all are going to think I'm nuts when you see the extent of this collection, but in fairness, a number of my scarves were inherited from my mom.

Here are photos of my solution. We have an antique armoire in the corner of our room that holds my accessories, jewelry, novelty tees, workout clothes, and swimwear. I have bins on wire shelves that hold the scarves in neat rows. I pull a bin out like a drawer when I need a scarf. Works well for me!

I fold mine lengthwise over the bars of a hanger that's meant to hang pants. Each hanger has four cascading bars, so I narrowly fold two or three scarves over each bar. I have three of these pants hangers with the scarves sorted according to season and size. The rest get rolled and stored in plastic shoe boxes. I must say that the hanging scarves get worn a lot more than the scarves stored away in shoe boxes.

Thanks everyone, lots of great ideas! The multilayer pants hanger is intriguing me as is rolling them in a drawer. Seems like my current way is not too bad either.

But can I just say, Janet, WOW! But can I have the 4th one from the right on the bottom shelf in pic 2? Surely you wouldn't miss it!

I sort of softly roll my silk scarves and then pop them into this hanging lingerie holder thing that hangs from a closet rod. The bigger ones, like for winter etc, I fold lightly and stack on a shelf.

Peri: I use this guy http://www.amazon.com/InterDes.....arf+hanger (well) a few of them) and have found that they best suit my organizational needs. I used to keep everything in a closed box in my closet, but I found that I rarely used them. These handy dandy hangers have brought them out to play waaaaaay more often.
