I have been thinking about this a lot with all the wardrobe updates and getting ready for fall and winter here. I have started thinking of my "look" budget as a lot more than just clothes. It now includes hair, make up, skin care, clothes, shoes.

So when it comes to all this "stuff", how do you prioritize your spending ? Whether it is a good chunk of cash or a little, all budgets have limits.

For me, I realized that I will plunk down money for navy and black blazers. I will cut back on the cost of jeans and T shirts. I want comfortable shoes and boots in leather. So I will spend there. I love the ruched t shirts at Nordstrom, but I will go to Michael's crafts and buy the $4 dollar v neck all cotton t shirts if it means affording a nice blazer. I would also give up buying cashmere and get cotton sweaters. I would NOT cut back on my merino wool T shirts. This winter I need a heavy duty winter coat, so that will be a priority. Oh and I LOVE scarves from anywhere...KMart to Nordstrom. So cheap and easy scarves are awesome and easy to find.

Bras are rather inexpensive for me. I live near a Vanity Fair outlet store with great "unmentionables" and they are always half price or more of the things in stores. So no more Victoria Secret for me. : ) OK, maybe a just a few. ; )

Regarding grooming, I have come around to the adage that a good haircut is important. I feel that way about moisturizer for my skin and a moisturizing cleanser. Along with sunblock and a retinoid product, that is where my money goes. These things are not necessarily expensive but they are the priority. If I have money left after those things, then concealer, mascara, lipstick. Then a cheap eyeliner and eye shadow if there is room. I use Herbal Essence Naked Conditioning Cleanser for my hair which is a MUCH cheaper versions of WEN and I love it.

I do want to start putting money away for a facial every 3 months or so.

So what about you ?

Oh ... and do you have "extras" ? Things that you don't really need but enjoy using or having but could easily cut out without any regret or feeling of loss if necessary ?
