How do I stalk a dress?

I decided Joy's EF lantern dress might be the thing for the outdoor wedding and as I was about 10 seconds away from finishing the checkout the sapphire one disappeared. Someone was just that much faster than me and got the last one! Grrr.

I ordered the rhubarb but really want the sapphire. Joy suggested Google search but I only found XS and L. I want S.

All I know is to check Nordstrom online daily and see if anyone returns. Other advice from pro stalkers?

Wishing you luck, Peri. Maybe an SA could track one down for you. I've heard they can work miracles sometimes.

Rule 1 - Put it as the homepage of your browser. That way, as soon as you start the browser, it will be there.

Rule 2 - More important - keep revisiting the link frequently all day, i.e. keep refreshing the link - if it's relatively new item it will be back in stock in different sizes, as people will be returning it for various reasons. You'll see.

I learnt this method the hard way, when stalking the trench I missed out on (full rant here). My size and color I wanted never went back in stock, but I soon noticed that the availability of other sizes and colors was frequently changing throughout the day, obviously as they were processing returns.

Even you don't have a Nordstrom store nearby, phone the store. I once had an SA in Nordstrom Rack offer to find me a certain coat in a particular size, and the item wasn't on their website anymore. Agree with Joy that sometimes an SA in the store can find something, even if the item has disappeared from the site.

Also - don't forget to look for the dress on other sites.It looks like Neiman Marcus has it in ink blue, as well as aqua, though the price is substantially higher.

Did you try the Eileen Fisher website? You won't get it on sale (maybe) but might be able to get the dress.

Thanks everyone for the good ideas. I will remember them for the future because...

The dress is on its way. It was as simple as calling this morning and asking...apparently some returned but not yet up on the site.

Now, if I just can look as good as Joy in it! That would really be the miracle. Hope it doesn't go the way of so many other things and return back the way it came!

In addition to the suggestions above,

1. Set up a Google alert for the dress, with daily email alerts to you.

2. Set up an eBay auto search with, again, daily email alerts.

Oh...wait...never mind. I see you snagged the dress. Congratulations! I'll leave my comment as is in case someone else can use the advice.

I don't know if Nordstrom does this, but some online shopping sites will let you set up email alerts when an out of stock item you want becomes available. If Nordstrom doesn't do this, they should.
