How are slouch boots suppose to fit.....

I have a skinny calf...around 13.75. I have all my boots altered because most are just too big in the calf. But after all this talk about the Frye Veronica boot, I bought these :

OMG, they are beautiful. I had planned to wear them with skirts and dress but they have a little of a fingers width gap. Is this acceptable, or must I part with them ?

As you can see, they gap quite a bit on me. I got a half size down and kept them and have been wearing them to death.

I really liked those on Maya.. If they fit similar on you, I vote keep! I think I read in one of Angie's blog posts that slouch boots *can* gape as it's part of the look. And that's a great deal on them, too!

Thank you both ! I love them...but they "fit" like nothing else I have worn on my feet. So Isabella, I did a search and yup, Angie AND Maya both said it is appropriate ! My transformation is so funny. I really am a bit too tailored and uptight - even my boot shafts : ) It feels weird being "loose" !
