The other day I had an order to pick up at Nordstrom Rack, and I cruised around the store while I was there. Not a lot of interest to me at the moment, but I did spot this jacket-shirt thing by Vigoss and was intrigued enough to try it on. I really liked it and it was very inexpensive, so it came home with me.
I’ve always liked this kind of fabric color treatment — is it an overdye? When there are two colors sort of woven together? I liked the silk and nylon fabrics many years ago that were one color where the light hit them from a certain angle and another color from another angle. I had a raincoat in a plum and green like that back in the 90s and hated to give it up but it began to look quite dated.
At any rate, some of that is happening with the color of this jacket — the predominant color is clearly brown, but the inside is blue, like a very lightweight denim or substantial chambray, and the blue shows up when you see the jacket up close. I’ve tried to take some closeup photos in better light.
Worn with a Lands End blue tee underneath, my Nili Loran Celia wideleg jeans, my Gentle Souls brown boots, and a very old Fossil belt.
I was going to run errands and it was a cold day, so I wore my plaid wool Veronica Beard jacket, which got a compliment at the grocery store. Added a cashmere beanie that my husband bought me this summer.
Pic 7 is a cute wool houndstooth baseball cap I got in Porto. I would have worn that today if I had gone with a solid color coat.
I really like blue and brown combinations — how about you? I had thought I might add a brown piece or two to my wardrobe, so this jacket is a nice low-key way to do that.
