Astrid, you mention a “business skirt”. I think that’s why I’m hesitating about the pants. I’m not sure they could dress up as well as “business pants” could go a step down the scale of formality. I really like the black pants. If I can wear them in the office, I will. If they don’t fit in there, I’ll wear them after hours and on weekends.
Sal, which jacket do you mean? Alas, they don’t have those two blazers! I am learning that stores here are separate from others in the same chain, and even from the website. When I called customer service last night, the agent told me that stores report on inventory about twice a week, and if you order something online to be delivered in the store, that’s what will happen—they will send a physical item to the store for you to pick up. Very different from my experience in the US with Nordstrom’s and others, where inventory is updated constantly, and if you order something online to pick up in the store, you can get it two hours later, because they pull it from the store’s inventory for you (even though you’ve paid for it online). Astrid and Joha both suggested stores on this street, so that’s where I am, even though I don’t like it here, because I think inventory might vary widely from store to store.
Sal, you gave me something to think on, whether and how much professional wear I want to get. I do think I need to buy beyond just interviewing needs, because that part of my wardrobe is really super thin. I have a small capsule a size or two lower than I am now, but that doesn’t help much. Also, women here wear blazers much more frequently than I’m accustomed to. I want to get one or two “office” blazers, but others, like the red and the long grey, I think I can wear elsewhere. I def want to get things that will work in with/elevate what I already have. Thanks for getting me to think about that.
Joha, that striped dress is sold out too :/ A black blazer would be a good idea—the one I have is very short, with some kind of elastic or smocking in the back. I don’t think it’s office appropriate, might not work these days at all. Between it not being here and being a different style than I’d get if I find one today, I’m not worried about duplication.
