I've been on a bit of a buying binge lately - because I'm finding things that work for me and that I actually like. I admit that none of this was bought with a plan, but it all fits into my winter work /casual capsule of navy/grey/black. Boutique shopping is really good here right now and I'm taking full advantage of it. I am headed out to do some store visits, a bit of Christmas shopping, and to meet with a potential new vendor. It's freaking cold here today, but I'm only going between car and building , and prefer to leave my coat in the car . I love a blazer that is comfortable and that I can button right up menswear-style, and was absolutely in love with this one the minute I tried it on. Stretch dark denim with velvet elbow patches and collar . Dark red buttonhole on lapel. My staple Gap skinnies, a new star print boy-friend t (same boutique for jacket, t, boots, and jewellery) , my Christmas present to myself : Leah Alexandra star burst locket and star earrings, and my trusty blue shimmer boots (that I love so much I bought them in black too - ha). Topped off with Angie's scarf . It is perfect on days like this where I want to be wrapped up but not stuffed into a coat. New chrome red mani, and experimental lipstick (I find it hard to get a red lip right - it's not my best colour and usually too much for my old lips) but what else do you wear with red nails??).
I'm laughing because the "story " on the webpage for the NVLT blazer refers to the company as one for millenials. I'm about as far away from that as one could be - and this perfectly illustrates my internal conflict with getting dressed lately. Part of me thinks I should be more sensible and moderate ( a la Brenda Kinsel ) and part of me likes to dress like a 30 year old. If it were a totally casual day, I'd be wearing my new black and white hightop Vans with this outfit .
Pictures overexposed to show detail and colour.
Comments, jokes about dressing like a millennial , head shakes, etc - --they are all welcome
