H&M top, jacket? Keep or return

I can not tel if this is really fab or awful. I tried it on in the store and 2 people stopped me to say how much they liked it. It is a summer weight and am wondering if the ruching on the side will date by next season. Have not styled it and am showing it both open, partially zipped and zipped. I am thinking it is better zipped as a blouse. What do you think?

I have no idea if the ruching will be dated soon or not but I think it looks great on you!

I like all three versions, but #3 is especially nice.

I love it! If I hadn't just gotten the linen ON moto, I'd be hunting this down instead.

It has the kind of ruching that looks like it's a natural accommodation of the
fabric to your shape. What do you care if other people stop wearing a construction
feature when you look like you're wearing something made just for your amazing
shape. If it were me in that jacket looking so good, you'd have to treat me for some medical condition
where it fused to me! I think you could wear that the rest of your life.

I like it, but I'm wondering about the sleeve length -- I can't tell, but is it a bracelet length? It seems kind of in-between. Maybe pushing the sleeves up will help.

It looks great on you - everything you put on does, always. So, the question here for me is really whether the top/jacket itself is a keeper and I am not keen. I can't tell anything about the fabric from the photos, but i think you've got much much more awesome jackets of similar style, so my vote is pass.

I don't know if this is filling a hole in your wardrobe or not, but I think the shape is amazing on you, as well as the color! What a waist. It would be a shame to hide that under a boxy jacket.

Even IF this turns out to be "passe" next year (which it probably won't), I would keep wearing it if I were you, because it suits you so well.

What an interesting piece! I can imagine you styling it in all kinds of great ways.

So I guess the question is, does it fill a hole, can you imagine having fun with it, is it a practical piece for you, or at the price, is it worth it, regardless?

IMO it looks great on you all 3 ways. Seems like a good lightweight layering piece if you need one/more of those!

I love it!! Number 3 best I bet it'll be in style for years to come. I had a similar ruched green jacket that I absolutely loved that I got maybe 5 years ago? I wore it beginning fall as a jacket then throughout the winter under my puffer coat and into spring. It died some time ago *sniff sniff* - maybe I need to take a look in H&M for a replacement?

It does look incredible on you but I suspect that most things do with your figure! I too question the sleeve length but if that is ok, then I would keep because the color can go into fall making it a three season jacket. Can't beat that! Don't worry about the ruching because that will take a few years before you "wouldn't be seen in something so dated"!

Thanks ladies- no worries about the sleeve length- they can be pushed to elbow length easily which actually looks better.

Filling a hole? Hmmm.. probably not except as a blouse. I do want more things that I can wear as blouses. I will try to post with a skirt- I think the length makes it work well with high waisted pants and skirts.

As long as you can resolve the sleeve length by rolling or pushing them up, I think the jacket is great. I really like the rouching.

I like it best fully zipped, and next best wholly unzipped. The half zip seems awkward somehow but, overall, I think it's an artsy/drapey piece that is no particular trend, so I could see it worn indefinitely...

You know, I just want to mention, and it is a little nit-picky, but there is something about the cut of the arm-holes that bother me. They seem too big maybe? It only really matters I suppose if it inhibits your reaching for things. Sorry, cut is just one of those things I really focus on in clothing, probably much more so than "normal". In any case I think the jacket style looks great on you, and the outfit is very flattering. I like it half-zipped or open, personally, but closed is okay too.
