Look, I can't help it. I love turquoise. And my manicure took an unexpected direction last night and I went with pool blue . I don't know either. - don't ask. So - last minute trip today to see the retail buyer at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (bonus shot included) who is one of my oldest friends - meant I needed to swap out the denim jacket and Stan Smiths I had on for a blazer and heels. For a sober, quiet, stunningly awe-inspiring building, this might not be seen as a pro look , but, like I said, the buyer is a good pal. Figured I could get away with this for a quick 15 minute meeting.
These sandals barely made it through the afternoon - I was uber-conscious of them the whole time and was dying feeling like Mrs. Roper. You know when one summer the shoes are ok, and the next , they are decidedly not? Well these are going in the donate bag. I love them! They are so comfortable! And they are gold metallic wedges! What's not to love ? But ugh, outdated. Bye bye, little wedges

I love turquoise, too, and this is SOOO pretty and sharp! Love it all! Where did you find a blouse to harmonize so well with the jacket and the khakis and your overall colouring? Magic.

As for the shoes...sigh .I have had those days. I had a red pair very similar. SUPER cute. But. Yeah. Out they went....

Thanks Suz - this is a silk tank , actually, and it goes with just about everything I own. Mind you , my summer bottoms are all mainly olive/white/denim - this just goes with everything. It was a lucky buy. My favourite topper for it is an army green field jacket.

I've said it before, but that Smythe blazer is just so stunning! You look fantastic in turquoise, and that blouse looks so good with the olive pants. Excellent necklace too, and super fun bag. And thumbs up for the nail polish colour as well.

Wow! Quite different from my idea of "casual" for chinos/khakis! Now you have me thinking about wearing them with a jacket/blazer...

I would NEVER have imagined those colors together but it looks wonderful! And I agree with others, turquoise is a great color on you. The necklace is truly awesome. I absolutely love many BCBG items, I always look at them carefully and sometimes buy.

I think I might have kept the shoes if they were mine but I skew a bit more toward classic than you I think.

Love that you refer to the museum as "over budget". You mean it is not destined to be your new pied-a-terre in Winnepeg?

Love that color on you. . The nails make me smile big time. It's such a shame when we like something but just feel that it makes our outfit look dated.

Chris - no,just that the construction was into the 10's of $M over budget. Big controversy at the time because some if it was federally funded. And thanks for the compliment - glad to hear you like BCBG too. It appeals to my maximal side

Another Killer outfit. LOVE the matchy-matchy nails and glorious blazer. The sandals aren't dated, actually - but if you're not feeling them anymore, it's time to say goodbye.

Angie - no - it's just 3 weeks of sun exposure and washing it almost every day. (intentional ) It was really bleached before too -so that base colour is starting to come out again. I'm liking it this shade - now waiting for it to soften up and grow in more !

I'd love to try some tomato red with this jacket. I have two linen knit tops in that shade that I can wear - what do you suggest for bottoms? (in terms of colour?)

I was thinking we hadn't seen this jacket on you in a while. I love it. And as Angie says, it loves you back. I can't tell if I like you best in jackets or if I love good jackets so much myself that I am projecting my happy every time you wear one. I want to see your last year olive Smythe soon too.

The turquoise jacket was on sale for a bit at Nordstrom and I almost bought it. I didn't because I bought a turquoise leather jacket in the spring. Which is of course heavy to wear now. And I want the Smythe jacket.

Love this! Khaki pants would not have occurred to me but it works so well and is not a predictable combination....if you know what I mean.

The shoes aren't good?! I kind of like them but I have trouble figuring out shoes. They are probably the most challenging part of outfit creation for me. I'm wondering what you would wear with this outfit instead.

I like the look with faded blue bottoms (like denim) with tomato red and tuquoise. But if your tops are Dutch orange - white bottoms look fab.

Your lighter hair looks softer already.

Thank you, Angie. I was afraid you were going to suggest white, and I don't think I could go there. Red, white and blue has just has too much of a Fourth of July connotation to me (even though this would be a modified version of those colours) - you know, eating lobster rolls in Maine etc? . I have some really faded blue crop mini-flares, and I know what I'm now wearing tomorrow! Thanks for this - it's always great to have another way to wear an investment piece like this.

The sandals? Wellllll, the thin straps are a little dated to my eye, and the wedge is just shaped enough to be well, again, dated. I'm sure these shoes are 6 or 7 years old - I only wear them a couple of times a summer. They are bordering on being out of my style zone now too, but a big part of me (and my bff Jennifer Aniston) still loves a good wedge I picked them today to work off my gold and turquoise earrings. Otherwise, I would have gone with the Freebirds, or a sand suede laceup.

I love turquoise too. Alas it does not love me back. Sad. I find the teaming with the olive quite unexpected but it really works. I tend to think earthy with earthy, brights with brights. I have some turquoise jewellery so I might try it with an olive top. Thanks for the idea. YLF!

I like turquoise with red, orange, coral, white and denim the best, but it looks great here with your olive too.

I'm not sure if I think those sandals are too dated, but I think they're too "pretty" for this outfit.
