Hi and My First WIW 19.01.13 - YouLookFab Forum

Hello, YLFers.

I have been lurking for quite a while.

I wanted to say thank you to Angie and all of the rest of the fabbers here on YLF. Through reading the forum and blog, I have ventured out of my comfort zone (goodbye, wardrobe of all black pants and shoes!) and in general learned a lot about (as I call it) accessible fashion, unlike some other places on the web.

So here is my first WIW.

Military stripe tunic (with gold shoulder buttons that don't show in the pic): Eloquii by the Limited
Navy leggings: Eloquii
Boots: really old, need to replace (see my next post!) - bought at Sears of all places, about 5-6 years ago. Plastic and need to go but love the style.
Necklace: Macys, bought a week ago, has a nautical style knot

I realize after seeing the pic that I need to wear a tummy shaper (LO is 3 months old!) but overall I was pretty happy with this outfit. I guess WIWs really DO help you figure out how you look through others' eyes.

Any feedback is appreciated and again - THANK YOU for the inspiration!!

Hello! Welcome and well done on your first post! It's always a little scary to put yourself out there to start. (I've been away for some time myself and am still trying to get brave to start reposting WIW posts!)

I really like your first outfit - you've got a great sense of proportion going on there. Your boots are fantastic!

Cute outfit overall. My only suggestion might be to wear some other color at the neckline, under the tunic. It's just a personal preference, but I don't like to see clothes that are skin-toned so close to the face. Maybe try a blouse under the tunic?

Nice to see you, ABC, and congrats on your first WIW. I encourage you to keep posting regularly, at least for awhile. I found that the more the forum got to see of my current style, the more helpful their suggestions became.

Love your sweater, here! Classic, but on trend. The leggings are a beautiful color, too! Do you have good luck with Eloquii?

This is the year to find new boots! Lots of great deals out there!

Anna, I will try the outfit with a white button-up underneath, you have a point about the skin color near the face.

Beth Ann, YES! I have had great luck with Eloquii. Their sizing can vary widely from item to item, so I find that sometimes I need to order various sizes and try on/return later, but I have been happy with everything I have gotten there. Good quality fabrics and on-trend looks, but not over the top (if that makes sense). I just realized that they carry regular sizes of many of the styles in The Limited so now I can just go to the B&M store for a preview of items then order the plus size online. They are also opening some "boutiques" in B&M The Limited stores but I think there are only a few.

Thanks again and I will try to post more WIWs...being a WFH new mother I am lucky to get out of my loungewear most days, but I am working on it thanks to YLF!

Congratulations on your first post! I can see why you want something like those booties. From what we can see of your hair, they are close to the same color.

Yes, Joy, you make a good point. Bookending is something I learned about on YLF, maybe that is why I like those boots so much! Now if I could just find the perfect replacement pair!!!

Hi! I have only been here a few weeks myself, but I am LOVING the objective feedback on my WIW's and the insights I get on my own outfits by relooking at the photos I have been taking!

I think your outfit is lovely. I think the proportions are good, and the boots and tunic look great together.

Welcome to WIW! You did a really good job with that longer length sweatter and long necklace- most flatering combo for styling some leggings, and stripes are allways trendy:-). Next time, necklace can be replaced with a long scarf, adding some color next to your face, maybe in a coral? That will also elongate the lines, AND (here is the trick!:-)) it can also hide a bit of tummy (note for your pretty self, don't worry about that too much, you have full rights to have some, with such a small baby:-)). YLF!
