Help! What's my style moniker?

Hi Fabbers,

I'm trying to identify my style moniker so that I can use it as a filter when making purchase decisions (to avoid my habit of impulse shopping.)

Would love your help!

Here are my style descriptors:

Luxe: this is #1. I like clothing to be luxurious in details and sumptuous and texture. This is not about being blingy or showy; I just love and feel good in clothing that is made well, out of luxurious fabrics, and that is now priority #1 to me.

Texture: leather and silk with a subtle sheen; sumptuous cashmere; wool and alpaca that drapes like a dream - give me them all!

Urban
Sophisticated
Sleek - clean lines and silhouettes
Distinctive - I like something a little different about my outfits.
Modern
Classic
A dash of pretty.

A sampling of my outfits is below. I think I'd like to get away a little from the classic and move a little more to the urban.

I could only come up with Urban Luxe. Any other thoughts?

Your outfits are so beautiful! I also see polished, feminine, sophisticated, refined, elegant, dressy, dramatic, sumptuous, romantic.
But I see your look as more dramatic and refined than urban, to be honest. Urban makes me think of something more gritty, hard-edge, casual. Of course feel free to disagree with me completely there

Jussie - I think you're absolutely right - I do lean more towards the elegant, refined, pretty side - especially when I look at these photos. But I think I want to lean to urban - I'm just not sure how yet. Thanks for calling it out - that Urban piece is something I will start trying to incorporate more into my outfits moving forward!

Beautiful outfits!

I'm going to throw my hat in with those who see a very specific type of urban -- structured, engineered, dramatic, sophisticated, proportioned, intentional (you get the drift).

"Architectual Luxe" works for me but whatever you choose has to work for you!

ps always so envious of your perfect curls!

What about "cosmopolitan" instead of urban? That kind of gets at what Vix said, about specific aspects of urban culture.

I love Urban Luxe! I think some of these other modifiers (Polished, Architectural, Dramatic, Sophisticated, etc.) may be your descriptors, but Urban Luxe sounds like a perfect articulation of your overall goals and trajectory. I like the idea of shifting the dial from soft/pretty towards a slightly harder edge.

And that white suit in #10 -- WOW!!

As others have mentioned I also see "architectural" as one of your adjectives.

And I really like "distinctive," I think it is very evocative somehow, and individual (lol I guess I'm saying it's distinctive....)

Seems like you have your moniker sorted out but I wanted to say that white suit is smokin' hot!

Thank you Fabbers for being so thoughtful in your comments (as always!) I've always loved architectural but never thought I could embody that - so i'm so glad you see that in my style!

Also love the discussion around urban/cosmopolitan as well as the other adjectives you mentioned - I'm going to add these to my list so that they help me filter when making a purchase or creating outfits. This has been so unbelievably helpful!

Hey, Roxanna, I love your clothes! On LisaP's thread you mentioned that you love shawls and wear them with aplomb. That made an impression on me because I find shawls VERY difficult to wear gracefully, and I think many other women do, too. So I would want to take note of that dramatic flair (which others have noted as well) in your moniker, if possible. I like Urban Luxe, (and Sarah's word Distinctive, too.) But how about a 3-word moniker: Dramatic Urban Luxe, maybe?

SarahDB - Yes, I felt like 'distinctive'was right too. I had 'unique' or'unexpected' originally, but distinctive felt right. Glad you like it too

Good idea about the urban ...I seem to *want* to look urban, but can't seem to translate it. I like the idea of trying it out on weekends...
