Help me with color? Plus WIW - YouLookFab Forum

I tried this top in Gap and quite like the ease and style on me — good for a summer alternative to my usual tees!

The colors available are not necessarily my absolute best — those are always cooler shades of blue and green. However, I like these colors and don’t think they’re *bad* on me, especially when I’m wearing a little makeup. I could swear my coloring is not quite as cool as I age, but maybe that’s my imagination. I tried it in cream, olive, and rust. I usually prefer more white rather than cream, but maybe the softer color is ok. What do you all think of these colors? The cream would be most useful — I have in fact been looking for a casual white woven top.

4 is WIW today. New Adidas sneakers to replace my ages-old ones that were getting so beat up they were becoming uncomfortable. Black Athleta pants, and striped Bobeau top from the Rack — I was craving a little graphic stripe and I like this modified polo collar.

I like these colors on you. I think rust is especially flattering.
I like your outfit today. I adore your shoes and pants. That collar type is right up my alley. I'd wear the whole outfit in a heartbeat.

The cream one definitely does not look bad although the rust one is my favorite on you. However, if you know the cream will get a lot of wear and be useful I say go for it. Or maybe rust and cream

I’m partial to the olive and rust over the almost white, though I can’t say exactly why. Maybe it’s that I find they look a bit less boxy through the chest pockets in the darker shades. I love the whole outfit in 4. Nice combo together.

It’s occurring to me that I have a couple of cobalt blue summer bottoms and that the rust would look good with those. Hmm. Food for thought! Thanks for the feedback!

I like the best the rust one and the next is cream for the same reason as Delurked said. The whole outfit no 4 is gorgeous on you.

Olive would be my choice. Maybe because I like it more with black than rust.

Cream brightens your face? Though the other colours are almost as good. All three.

I’m not so sure about the cream but it could be the colours of the backdrop influencing this or just the fold wrinkles showing more. Like the olive best, looks nice with your eyes and hair colour, the rust would be a close second. Cute sporty stripes outfit in photo 4.

As for the potential addition, I like the olive on you best. The cream isn't working as well for me for the reasons Dee says -- which may be superficial, i.e. with a different backdrop and a steam it might be just as great as the others. And of course if you are looking for a light top and know you would use it, then that is obviously relevant! I always need a white or cream top in summer to work with various bottoms and they are not always easy to locate (weirdly enough.) This one looks good on you.

I think all the colours look good - I am drawn to the olive on you but maybe because that's a colour you do wear already. I would think about what else you would wear it with.

I purchased an off white blouse for summer and didn't wear it as much as I thought I would. Partly the vee was a bit too low and partly it was a bit see through - which I am trying to avoid because I don't like to have to layer under blouses.

You look awfully good for someone in a fitting room. I usually find they have the worst possible lighting. Anyway, with that in mind it is hard for me to say about the colors - I am imagining both the rust and olive bring out your gorgeous eyes. My eyes seem to be losing darker pigment along with my hair, so I might be cooler as I age?

I think these all look great Janet and am partial to the olive if forced to choose, but they all suit you.

From my understanding of colour analysis, softer folks can tolerate more breadth in colour temperature providing the colour also has softness to it ... Perhaps as your hair colour and contrast has softened, this has occured for you?

I think you look great in all of them! The cream, and the cream stripe are my favorites.

I don't know if people become 'warmer' or 'cooler' or more neutral as they age, but I do know that, as a clear spring person, my best colors within that palette shift depending on whether I'm still my pasty winter self, or had some time in the sun.

I would buy the cream shirt myself because when the weather gets hot, particularly on very sunny days, I prefer to wear light colours. In terms of flattery, they all work to my eye.
