Help me.... This bag is killing me.

Stopped into our local fancy boutique and spied this beautiful bag. Note the medium size and the fact that it works as a clutch, crossbody, shoulder bag or wristlet.

I gave it a test run to see what fits inside and it can hold everything I need though not much more. Also tried it on for size in each incarnation. All good.

My black RATE Coach and Striped Brahmin are my go-to bags but not so versatile, and I do not have a nice clutch. This would fit all my needs for Sundance (an all purpose bag is a wardrobe hole/HEWI) and could be generally useful.

However, it is EXPENSIVE! For me, anyway.

What do you think? Any experience with this brand?

Well, how much would you expect to pay for a clutch? A shoulder bag? A cross-body style? A wristlet? Now add all that up. It doesn't seem so expensive after all.

And while this won't make it seem any better, that really is NOT a bad price for a good leather bag... I can't imagine it is much more than the Coach originally was. Besides, you will have your photo published from Sundance! You NEED to wear things that make you happy!

Note that I have to bring options for my sister too, who counts on me to bring all accessories and makeup for both of us...

Hi, Stranger Just have to chime in to say that I've run across Hammitt and it's a lovely brand, and I can still remember the lovely quality of the one I ran across here locally.

It's one of those California high-end bags (like Hayden-Harnett is/was a high-end New York line) where the following is probably less universal than, say, Rebecca Minkoff, but the quality right up there.

I personally love it. And if you're outfitting yourself *and* your sister, I think you should get it. Plus, lately I've enjoyed tucking a great 'clutch' with all my purse essentials, into my daily tote for all those other life/work needs. This would definitely work for that sort of use too!

Missed you too But able to keep tabs on most things each day - checking the forum and blog. My new job is a mixed bag (no surprise there, right?), but exactly where I need to be right now. Someday soon I'll be able to balance the time & energy for work and life and interests

Let's see... you don't have a clutch yet, and even though you may not use a clutch much in daily life, this one can convert to something more useful for everyday. I wish I could see the different "modes," but I definitely trust your judgement having seen it in person for yourself.

PS - OMG, to quote Mo, you are pulling me down the "rabbit hole" in a big way with all these cool products tonight!

I love the look of a clutch but can't justify the impracticality. A regular great versatile conversation-stopping bag that also clutches (at the heartstrings)? Get it already!

I think it is too expensive, and personally, i do not love it that much. How do you think of this bag? I love this style.

I tend to recommend buying an item that is perfect in so many regards except price: you will soon forget the outlay and be happy you bought a close to 10/10 piece

Not familiar with the brand but it is stunning and I think very 'you'. It would be pricey in relation to my budget too, but it you can stretch it I think it is probably a good investment.

I'm a bad one for enabling a clutch purchase, since I have acquired quite a collection in the last year, but I am using them a lot.

This one looks very YOU, and with the flexibility you describe, plus all the endorsements of the quality, I think you should get it. How's that for enabling?

jamieyh, that's a lovely, classic bag but it is not me at all. I have become super-picky about adding bags to my closet because I am NOT a bag lady and rarely switch out bags. What I'm looking for has to fulfilll a fairly specific need.

Enablers, expect me to return the favor! I will go back and look at it again with comments in mind and see if I can come up with any other thoughts.

I love it for you (and maybe for me ;)). I have 2 convertible type bags like this, only smaller, and I love that it can be a clutch one moment, a crossbody the next, etc. Very useful, especially when travelling and not carrying absolutely everything including the kitchen sink out with you for a night on the town.

Mo, what are the bags you have? What's the size range? What I like about this is that it's not too big for me (the one I sent Janet just overwhelmed me, sadly). But it needs to be big enough to be useful too.

Oh, all my bags are small. I'm not much of a bag lady. My convertibles are a Nine West and a Kenneth Cole, pewter and blue respectively. About the size of my new Kindle Fire HDX.

Thanks, Mo! This bag fits my mini iPad but is not much bigger. It has some amazing pockets. What I need and don't have is a cross-body so I don't have to hold handles in my cold mittened hands or struggle to keep a strap on the shoulder of a bulky coat.
