Help me style my holiday skirt (Edited with more photos at the end)

I bought this amazing skirt at Nordstrom last weekend to wear to a few holiday parties and concerts. I don't feel like the photo does it justice -- in person it is just beautiful. However, there was no top sold along with it and I am a tiny bit stymied about how to style it. Normally I like to wear a black turtleneck sweater with my holiday skirts but there is no black in the print so I think that's probably out. But maybe not? The model is styled with black top and accessories.

I'm thinking the teal leather jacket might be nice as a topper -- the colors go together really well.

Anyway, any suggestions you care to make would be much appreciated!

ETA: I love the teal leather jacket with the skirt. I also think a black turtle neck would be great. Black is a neutral and would go great with the saturated colours of the skirt. Gorgeous!

I see black as a neutral that pretty much goes with anything. I would be interested to see what other fabbers think. The teal looks nice as it seems to pick up a similar colour in the skirt. It's a gorgeous skirt!

Black is usually my default, but in this case, I agree that it may not be the best choice. How about red or navy? I like the idea of your teal jacket as well.

gorgeous skirt. How about a silver sparkly, silver metallic to really dress it up for a holiday party. You want to show off the skirt, and silver metallic just adds a bit of sparkle and shine for an evening event without being too much.

Gorgeous skirt. TRY the black T-neck!

Otherwise, a tucked fitted shirt, or cropped sweater. Try a buttoned up classic cardi too.

Black top and shoes would be my choice - to keep the focus on that beautiful skirt

Black may work as sometimes it "disappears" as a distinct color when all pieces are black (top, shoes, bag) except for a bright color or print.
Since you have a "rainbow closet" why don't you try a bunch of blazers and tops with it in various colors to get an idea of yay/nay? You might find something unexpected about what complements it. Then if needed you could focus any shopping on that.

Black would probably be fine. The piece of the model showing in the Nordstrom listing has that. But I also like the idea of gold, pink or navy with some shine.

I would default to black and then bookend with black shoes (I have dark hair), but I will be interested to see what you come up with. This skirt looks like it will be very versatile across all seasons for your climate....very pretty.

Thank you so much for all the great ideas! I have a party tomorrow that is in a chilly venue, so I will probably go with the black turtleneck and black shoes for warmth. Maybe even black booties.

I also ordered a few teal/turquoise/green tops today and hopefully one of them will also work. And a navy tee with gold sequins. And I found a matching button-down shirt so I ordered it, too, just for fun, to make a faux dress. Because it's good to have options!

And yes, Aquamarine! I think this will be a four-season piece in this climate!

Beautiful skirt! I can just picture it on you, and I know you will look stunning in it. Lots of great suggestions here. I like the idea of the teal leather jacket with it, too. If you went that route, maybe a black scoop-neck top underneath (I'm thinking leotard-style)?

Okay, I just spent an hour trying different tops. The black was unexpectedly great, and then my ancient blue oversized silky tee jumped out of the closet and wanted to play. Alas, the teal jacket is a bit too oversized for the skirt but I love the look of the denim jacket and vest.

1/2. Black turtleneck, with and without denim jacket, and Sole Society faux Rockstuds.

3/4. Black sweater, tucked and untucked, same shoes.

5/6. Pleione v-neck top, with and without denim vest, same shoes.

7/8. Ancient top from the consignment store with gold shoes, two necklaces, and new Chelsea gold clutch.

9. This is the wildcard look but I like it quite a bit. Same as No. 8 but added red cardi and red shoes.

I would happily wear any of these, I think. Which one gets your vote for tomorrow's party?

I like this skirt better on you than on the model.

The black looks better than I would have expected. I like the blue look as well but the black seems dressier. The denim vest is a fun option and I like it better with the vest than with the denim jacket. The red cardi is another good look.

I especially like 1, a black top with the necklace. the skirt is beautiful. I have a sugar eye for prints with red, teal and blue. A black top shows off the colors of the skirt.

Oooh, this is so stunning on you, MsMary! I love Tracy Reese's designs and this one is gorgeous--and based on all your fab stylings, it's versatile too, both seasonally and by occasion.

For a party, my vote goes for look 1 with the turtleneck. With this print, I even wonder if you could leave off the necklace and let the skirt take centre stage. I just love it with the ankle strap stud shoes!

7 and 1 are my favorites here. Stunning! I would like to see a shorter jacket or shrug, if possible, though the denim jacket and vest you've shown both look really cute, as does the red cardi. Love all the shoe choices here.

I love both 7 and 1. I think the blue silky top, while matchy, is a bit more daring than the black, which is sort of predictable, iykwim. Have you tied it with orange? What a great skirt to show off your advanced color sense.

So Fun! Thanks for sharing your pics. Beautiful skirt on you. #7 by far is the best IMO. The necklace in pic 7 is way better proportionally. Also I like the blue top with the skirt. The red cardigan from the last photo would work with this as well. Necklace from pic 7 might work with the black top too. But definetly keep the necklace from pic. 7.

Wow, the black turtleneck looks stunning! What about a red turtleneck? I got a Gap t-neck while in Seattle and am very pleased with the fit and quality. So I vote turtleneck all the way. I see they are sold out in many sizes now but perhaps they will re-stock. This runs small compared to other Gap tops (I got the S and it's quite fitted, my usual Gap size is XS).

This is your magic skirt, Mary! I really love #7, and wonder if a similar silhouette with red or another color top won't have the same wow effect? I love it most with a fitted top showcasing your tiny waist and think Angie's suggestion of a fitted cardi will have a neat 50's retro feel. I do not like the denim pairings nearly as much as how you dress this up. Can't wait to see you go crazy with this beaut.
