Help me find great jeans, please ETA - a new pair (different style)

Dear fabbers,
I am on a mission to find a great - oh well, acceptable - pair of jeans. Have not had one for several years... I am an hourglass/apple. Looking primarily for a dark wash bootcut or wide legged, possibly straight, full lenght pair. Something which looks like trousers, only it is in denim. I would love to find a pair to wear with all my blazers (blazers are my favourite toppers). Is it possible to find a pair like that? I have tried and tried and cannot find anything that would look good on me. A pair of trousers looks always a lot more flattering on me. Is it a common problem?

Is there anybody out there who has the same jeans preferences or problems? I am grateful for tips, ideas and your experience.

It must be jeans day, Katerina. I don't know what is available where you live but have you looked at Boden's jeans. They have dark wash bootcut, wide legged and straight legged jeans. They look trouser like to me. No distressing and I hear the quality is very good.
NYDJ might also have something for you. Lots of fabbers love them. I think they do make jeans that look like trousers.

I'm a hourglass/pear and need a tall inseam (35 or 36"), and as of now I have found exactly one style of quality, flattering dark wash bootcut jeans that works on me : the Citizens of Humanity "Fleetwood".
I have also found several lower end ones from Mango, Gap and Bonprix - but it was sheer luck and other styles from them did not fit at all.

Citizens of Humanity do make great jeans. Aurore, I love those bootcut jeans you have. Wow! Very tempting. Of course, I don't wear heels.

I second the recommendation to check Boden. The Southampton Sailor and Windsor Wide Leg both fit me really well, but I ended up not keeping because they attract a lot of pet hair in the dark wash. I might try again sometime in the lighter colours.

There seems to be more choice in the US and Canada. Here in Sweden, almost everything is skinnies, slim models or BF. Very little dark flares or boot cuts. Wonder why....

I have a hard time finding the right dark denim trouser pants, too. I found a nice pair a few years ago but sadly, they don't make them anymore. I run into trouble because I don't like gold stitching and I need a short length.

Those jeans are lovely, and I’m especially drawn to the Boden jeans. Are Boden jeans stretchy and do they keep their shape? I find that a lot of denim tend to “grow” after a while!

jeans are a love/hate thing...imho

i know alot on this board dont like pilcro from anthro, but, i find they dont stretch out (like nydj and kut did for me) and the price point is just fine...i have a few gap (i always need waist taken in) but its hit or miss for me there...

By the way, I bought a pair on my lunch today - from H&M on sale - about 10 Euro. Not at all what I was looking for, but might work on weekends with quilted jackets. I can still return them, I am not sure. They are croped and have some ”stripes”, different on each leg :-). Here is the picks I took in the fitting room. What do you think? Keep or return?

I have a pair of black high-rise Pilcro flare jeans from Anthropologie, and I don't even like high-rise! They fit really well and are comfortable (I just can't semi-tuck or tuck any tops with them so I don't look like a set of boobs on legs). Check out Pilcro at Anthro and see if there's anything there. Their jeans and pants have served me well. It's hard to find good trouser-cut jeans these days.

I have a weird fondness for those sailor style jeans but have zero confidence they would actually look good on me, especially at my current size (at least a size larger than I was last time I bought jeans). I would love to see someone here get those!

I am going to try some of the trouser-like dark jeans the fabbers have recommended for sure, my 10 Euro BF has a completely different purpose- only casual. But I am seriously looking to find a dressy pair. Would be great to have one in white too.
