A tunic shirt that:

-Has elbow length sleeves or shorter
-Is long enough for leggings but short enough for petite me (30-33 inches is about right)
-Not sacklike but not super fitted. A relaxed, tailored fit.
-No empire waist
-No self belt
-Minimal or preferably no ruffles or other fussies, but I like the idea of pintucks
-Preferably no chest pockets but I won't die if they are there
-Comes in either white or a Maya color (excluding black). I think most of you are pretty well schooled in my color palette (no earth tones, nothing muted or pastel).

I think it ticks off all your categories...no empire waist, no self belt, white, not much in the way of frills, the right length (I am only 5 ft 3), etc...

I saw it in the store while grocery shopping and it was cute in person. There were other colors in the store, the only one I remember being a stripe.

I just found a white tunic type collared shirt today at the Rack, It was already on sale and then everything is an extra 25% so it was less than $15, I will post a picture because I'm not sure if this is the right length but everything else you describe is checked off!

CrazyOne...I think that tunic shirt is a little too loose and see through for me. I prefer a more substantial fabric and some darts or vertical seaming...something to give a bit of shape. It looks cute on you though, especially belted.

Rosie, buttons are quite desirable.

How does MK run size-wise? Anyone?

My experience with MK is that it runs large. For tops In most brands I can sometimes wear a Med and then it will be closely fitted but mostly too small in the shoulders, sleeve length (which I need) , but usually wear a Large, but with MK Medium is plenty room and sometimes too big, go figure!

I remembered MK running large Carole. I think you confirmed my suspicion. I will go with a 2 then. Hurray! YLF always has the answer

Does it come in a 0? The smallest size I see is a 2 but I don't know if that is because they are out of 0's. It isn't in any stores nearby, including the flagship, so I can't check.

I can't remember if it comes in a 0. MK stuff does though. Also, I wear my tunics quite baggy. If that's what you want, the 2 might be perfect.

I can't find the tunic anywhere else to see if it comes in a 0. Frustrating. I guess I'll try the 2 and see. I don't usually mind volume but with a woven, shirty tunic I appreciate some structure so I don't look like I'm being swallowed up by a giant white smock.

I went over my break (AT is right near work) and tried it on. They did not have the white in my size so I tried on the awful pink so pardon my corpselike appearance.

Too short for leggings, and too sheer. What's with all the sheer tops this season?

Maya, I've seen the perfect tunic shirt at Zara--beautiful white substantial fabric, nice length...it does have a brown belt but you can remove that. The only thing is that even in Portugal I couldn't find an XS (it's pretty generously sized, so the S was too big) and in Boston I could only find an XL...but if you're near some in NYC I would look for it...
