#2. I prefer the width and balance of these.

Like Gaylene, I can't see beyond the Harry Potter vibe of the first pair.

#1- I see your face. #2- I see your glasses. Both look good on you; depends on whether you want to hide a bit

Late to the party but without hesitation I prefer #2. Both looks great but #2 appears not to be a perfect circle and the shape really looks good on you Greg. The second pair seems to work with your cheek bones:)

And I hope you don't mind me saying I love the way you are wearing your hair.. very cool.

On the edge of my seat!

I prefer #1 by a mile. To me those look artsy and #2 look more conservative.

I also have the Harry Potter association with #1, so I prefer the second pair.

#1 -- they seem warmer, although it might be the filter. Round frames are back! I've always loved the playful scholar shape --- my DH needs a new pair, too....hmmmmmmm.

And my hubby much prefers #1, so there you go ^^

Aaarrrgghh! Just get both!
But I'd pick #1 if pushed .They both look great though - it's a tough call. I never saw the Potter movies so it doesn't read that way to me . Whatever the choice don't get anything too similar to Angie's or the two of you could end up replaying a Pickles comic strip.

Well they both look great considering the split votes so far. I prefer #2 because of the thicker frame--I like the geek chic look. Plus I feel like #2 makes you look a little younger. Can't go wrong either way though!

Man, could you guys have made this any more difficult!?-)
Both pairs are fantastic, and you really can't go wrong either way, but without looking at the other replies, I'm voting for #1.

I like the way they frame your eyes and "light up" your face, how your blue eyes are accentuated even more. The round shape is eye-catching (no pun intended), the frame is robust without feeling heavy. They are specs with character, modern without running the risk of feeling passé anytime soon.

Now, do tell, which specs are coming home with you?-)

P.S. You are standing a little further away in the first picture, so that might influence people's opinion somewhat too.

I'm going back and forth, back and forth. Both look fabulous on you. I love the professorial look of the first, and the second pair gives off a very cool, hip vibe. Leaning toward the second pair right now. I can't wait to see which pair you choose.

My first instinct was #2. I'm sticking with it. The lenses in #1 look too close together.

A vote for #1 here, but both picks are excellent, and it's really a matter of which style/persona you want to go with, as Angie points out. You can clearly wear a LOT of different shapes and frames!

I agree with #1 being a little Harry Potter. I prefer #2.

Love them both! My first impression was to prefer #1. But I don't think you can go wrong. #2 has an edgier vibe.

I prefer #1.
I think it is a nice juxtaposition with the weight of dark tones that you wear.
Actually, I much prefer them.
Of course, the other look great but the first is a more of a surprise.
The other pair is what would be the more expected choice that goes very well with your wardrobe.

No 1 says: 'I am cool and intellectual', no 2 says 'I am cool, intellectual and sensitive'. Take your pick!

I prefer #1, the are funkier. #2 obscures your eyebrows, and therefore becomes more about the frames than the overall look.

All three in my home (this includes Ethan) vote #2 - although I had a harder time committing to it. The guys were quite decisive about it!

Wow they both look terrific. At first glance I preferred #2. Then I flipped back and forth a few times and began to favor #1 as they are a bit more unexpected. But both are quite attractive. Tough call!

I love Harry Potter, by the way. Not sure why that vibe could be bad...

Nice choices! I also prefer the shape/width of #2. I'm liking the longer hair as well, Greg.

HAH. Just as I thought the thread was getting closer to making a decision - things switch around, and we are back to neck and neck. Fascinating.

Hmm. I'm back. Had a look at them on my laptop (as opposed to phone). I wasn't going to say why I preferred #1, but now I think I will. I thought #2 made you look like a self-promoting SNAG - sensitive new age guy, the sort who's never sensitive, just whiny. However, I will take that back. You look like a nice guy.

However, I think I will stick with number 1. Kiss of death, the words *nice guy*, right?

Ok. How's that for judgmental? Haha!

Hi Greg. Without reading a single comment, here's my take. The second photo is a better photo, and more head on, so I can see how those frames center your eyes exactly. Those look great, and I like them a lot on you. The first photo looks a bit more candid, so I can't judge those frames as easily. Nice choices. I like the new round shape.

Thanks again. It is incredibly hard to "see" yourself in new glasses so the input is very valuable. The near even breakdown in preference tells me that I can't go too far wrong with either one, which helps a lot.

I do think the nature of the photos may have skewed the comparison (in different directions for different people). I wish I was thinking about posting the photos when we took them.

I'm still not 100% decided, but leaning in one direction.

#1 is more retro and interesting, and perhaps more "academic" looking. The brown design detail and nice metal temples (neither really visible in the photo) are subtle but very cool.

#2 is more modern and bold, and to quote Angie, more "creative". They are a semi-transparent material (Angie says it looks like ice) with a black surface coating, which is a very nice effect.

Of course, both pairs have their own Seinfeld reference:
