I am glad Anna voiced an opinion on the short stacked back — I feel like that is maybe not looking the most current. I’d take advantage of the fact that you’ve grown it out a bit to try something new. A short shaped bob? You have such lovely features that you could get away worth pretty much anything!

Though maybe Charlize Theron’s bowl cut for true 80’s throwback
ETA
I think the heavy bangs help it look more current (recurrent?)

I am not on the cutting edge of hair fashion in case you haven't noticed. I love the short bangs with a bob look that Carla posted or the bowl cut that Anna just put up.
I need to show an ear too and I wonder why. With the short bob could you just tuck one side behind an ear?

cindy smith - there are several hair stylists ,based in Texas actually, who specialize in that look, and she shows up on one of them, I'm sure. I follow them all on instagram - colour me obsessed.

#2 is my favorite and looks like the inspiration for my hair cut at the beginning of January. Four months later, it's two inches longer and the back is shaggy. I can work with it for awhile longer but miss having my highlights. You will look fab in whatever style you choose.

Just being practical here, but I think the style Sal posted (Jed from the Night Manager) would be the one to withstand wind and rain the best. And it would look great on you! But really, you could wear any of these with panache, Angie.

#1 looks most like your hair now, but I like 6-8 a lot too! But any would look good on you

Thanks for the thoughts and pics, ladies. And kind words too. My thinking cap is on, and these are my thoughts right now.

I WANT TO CHOP IT ALL OFF!

Ha! A very short do would look amazing on you! I’m excited to see what you choose!

I relate strongly to those thoughts! Here's hoping you can get it done safely and soon.

Angie - you look absolutely stunning with a super short classic pixie. If anyone call pull that off it's you. DO IT!

I've talked myself off the ledge!

Here are some replies:

  • RunCarla, Anna, Style Fan, Lisa P - a short fringe in very impractical in terms of maintenance and my specs. Grows too fast. It’s good in the wind and rain though, and I’ve worn it before! I’ve had the Charize haircut, and it suits me. The upkeep is not COVID-19 friendly though, and I must take that into account.
  • Lisa P, as Kelly and Shievia mentioned, hair behind my ears creates structure and neatness that I crave (I hope that makes sense?) - and I like my ears!
  • Xtabay - you are 100% right about the practicality of the cut that sweet Sal posted. And I love it! Thanks for the kind words.
  • Janet - thanks for the kind words too! I like the look of a short back. It’s quite timeless to my eye and beautifully structured, although the upkeep is more extreme.
  • Anna, RunCarla and Lisa P - I need a relatively sharp haircut that looks polished throughout the day. With my walking out in the elements lifestyle, wispy styles and my fine hair do not work. I’m happy to have a looser look - like I’ve had for a year - but not an unkempt look that makes me feel unpolished, IYKWIM. Rachy is dead right that "trendy messy" is not something I can happily wear. The short back keeps things neat and structured. A classic short pixie suits me too. But the upkeep of it at this COVID-19 stage is problematic.
  • Elle, Taylor, Jaime, Laura, Suntiger, Kaelyn, RD, Deb, Kelly - you all chose my original #1 for exactly the reasons that I like it best too. And Greg too, which means a lot to me. Thank you
  • Preppy Pear - thanks for the kind words! Yes, I’m attached to a side parting, although I have worn it parted in the middle too.

Thanks again for helping me think this through! You guys rock.

You will look stunning whatever you choose to do. I like 5 and 8 from your post.

I also understand wanting to hack it all off. I myself am ready to order some real hair-cutting shears and take off some length, but there is no real reason beyond my preference since it looks good as is (though the ends are getting a bit raggedy for my taste, no one else would notice). I suspect I won't be comfortable going to a hairdresser here before the fall. I'm also dying for a pedicure but I can probably replicate that a home a bit better

Found this on Pinterest, looks like the same girl.

Christina, thank you! You are wise to stay cautious and safe.

I am super late to this post, and I have to preface by saying you could sport an actual bird nest and still look amazing. Since you asked for votes, I will say I like 1 and 7 best - I think your fringe will play well with the weather, and the front doesn't have to be as neat if the back is short, and that longer fringe might allow longer wait between cuts, if needed.

Can Greg help you maintain the clipper-cut back? If so, either could be a slam dunk!

Nemosmom! You get it! Thank you so much for the kind words too.

Angie, you look fantastic in any hairstyle. Now I understand showing the ear. Structure.

My faves are 1 and 3.

All beautifull and very close to what you have now, Angie, but I can't wait to see the results (back of nape included, if we can ask-as I am per moment obsessed with doing it myself).

Especially great when you'll make an before pictie right before-and the the after- Thank you!:-))

I am very late too but I also liked #1. It looks the most similar to what you’ve already had, which I suppose makes you look the most like “you” to my eye, if that makes any sense.
I like the idea of Greg helping to maintain the back if necessary!

It is so exciting to think about getting back to the salon! I agree that now is a good time to consider changes that will check off all your boxes and also have few growing pains, if salons need to close again, or if appointments are further apart. Considering how a style will work with specs, weather and masks will be important.
I love pic #1. It is my fave of the bunch.
I am attaching a couple of photos that have similar features, but appear to have more length / volume in back and on the sides.
I am looking forward to seeing pics after your appointment!

I love the clean, polished simplicity of 3 and 5. Can’t wait to see what you choose.

I got a wild hair last night thinking about this while on call (pun intended) and thought about KPop style and Korean styles. Some of the pics are of the male KPop stars.
I’ve been noticing some random chatter that Korea is becoming more influential style wise in Asia, more so than Japan.
Japan seems to have stagnated in many ways
And I went through Instagram

Anna - this is my fav look right now too - super modern and different.

Late to the party but I love #1. I'm a little confused about the negative comments regarding the stacked look - is it just not "in" or is there something I don't know about? Some negative connotations?

Anyway, also loving the bangs looks and have considered bangs for myself but I know my tendency is to push them aside and the look is to have them straight down. Would that be an issue for you Angie?

Thanks for the pics, opinions, and thoughts, ladies! All duly noted, and I'm pondering. I have lots of fun options

Anna, if I had heavy-thick-straight hair - I'd give those looks a go. But I have fine fly-away wispy hair, and have to work that into the styling decision unfortunately.

Robin F, FWIW, I think of the stacked back as timeless. All good! Remember, DYOT. I've had the short straight bangs before, and it suits me. But it's a mare to maintain. Grows fast and gets in the way of my specs. It's great in the wind and rain though......

There is a meme related to that hairstyle, hence the comments. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/karen

Angie is nothing like a “Karen” though!

Thanks Christina - I had missed that!
