It is with a sad heart that I write this post.
Old YLF'ers will remember Veteran Member Sandy (San), who supported YLF from the very start, and is also my friend. Sandy has been feeling physically lousy all year, and was recently diagnosed with 3rd stage anal cancer. She starts a hard and rigorous 6 week treatment of chemo and radiation tomorrow. Her kids and hubs have taken off work to be with her and support her, which warms my heart no end. And her beloved doggie Tori is therapeutically supporting her too.
Sandy is a sweet, kind, loving and strong soul with a very generous heart. Always happy - and happy for you. Right now she is upbeat and very positive, which sounds just like the Sandy I know and respect. She is a survivor and a fighter. Her courage and attitude is enormously inspiring. I am so very proud of her. Her doctors have told her that a good attitude is essential and she is starting down the road of this journey in the best head space.
Sandy asked me to let her YLF friends know about her illness, and welcomed the idea of a YLF support group. The more healing thoughts and positive energy that come her way, the better. I will be in contact with Sandy and her kids throughout these treatments, and hope to update you along the way.
Thanks so much for listening. I am fighting back the tears.
ETA: Here is beautiful Sandy with Tori a year ago just before we were going to meet for our birthdays which we do every year because they are a day apart:
