Today 31 May has been the Haldi ceremony for my nephew and his bride in Saskatoon, Canada. This is an Indian ceremony where the bride and groom get turmeric and yoghurt paste smeared on their faces and hands for either luck or fertility or both! (Stories differ.) I got some turmeric put on my cheeks too but said it’s too late for my fertility
We put in heaps of work but it seemed to all go off very well and the weather was kind. Last night the painstakingly worked on screen behind the bride and groom’s seat had been blown over by wind, luckily it could be fixed up. My sister-in-law was sad at the time but all’s well that ends well.
