Haircut today (chop, chop!) - YouLookFab Forum

I had my haircut appointment today and I did it! I'm still a bit freaked out by my own daring.

I did talk to him and asked his opinion and also showed him one of the Audrey Tatou pics so that he had an idea about the length. We decided to leave some length in front so that I can try how the bang works out for me. He said we could always adjust it if necessary, I should just come by next week if something is bothering me.

I blowdried my hair myself directly after the cut, because I just paid for cut&go (the whole cut was 18€ by the way). There's absolutely no product in it right now, so it didn't quite stay put what with the wind outside. Any product recommendations? Preferably no chemical gunk.

So - I think I love it, all in all! I'm still feeling a bit 'naked' right now, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. My stylist also thought it was awesome. Now I just have to find the right routine for it. And see if I need to adjust my dressing somewhat!

What do you think? Do you like it? Have you any ideas for tweaking it? I'm going to make the next appointment right before Christmas.

You know, when I looked at some of my old threads about hair this morning, I found one from when I still had really long hair and the consens was not to cut if off, because it seemed to fit my style so well. And when I went shorter, to shoulder length and the bob, everyone liked it. I guess you can't always imagine how something is going to look, you just have to try it sometimes.

You look "adorable" in the best sense of the word.
I think it might well lead to a shift in dressing style. Not huge, but maybe more refined/chic to match your 'do. Still plenty of room for playful and sporty/casual style for student life, though.
I think that was a fun, brave decision! What one might encounter afterwards, as you point out, is how to style and maintain it. It's true that sometimes the stylist can make something work but I can't--they may shaping and blow-drying seem so easy and then I'm all contorted at home trying to do it ! But, I think you just go with the flow and see how it works, rather than never trying in case it won't work. You are so right, it's only hair. You may also find you need more frequent haircuts but that it's worth it.
Anyway it looks great and I can't wait to see your "hair accessory" in some of your outfits.

Thanks Unfrumped! Yes, I think you're right. I've been wearing less and less sporty looks, but I think the hair will make it even more noticeable. I definitely feel like this needs some dressiness, something feminine in my outfits. Actually I think I was wearing just the right outfit to get the cut.

As far as product recommendations, this is what I use on my hair: http://andalou.com/index.php/h.....g-gel.html. I don't know if it's available in Germany, though. It isn't sticky and doesn't get too crunchy; my hair still has movement with it. And it is a natural product. I can't do chemicals either.
