Hair update - gone shorter

After getting a lot of helpful suggestions and visuals, I went to my hairdresser to take it up by 2 more inches. Here are the new pics. I still would like more choppy layers at the back but I think my hairdresser's patience is running a little low ( I have gone to her 3 times now to make it look how I want it to be) so I will probably let it grow out at this point and see in a couple of months.
People have been complementing my new do continuously so I think it has worked. To be honest with you, although I like the new look, I am missing my longer length.

I love it, especially from the side, and think that you could go shorter in back. There is a length that will not play well with collars. You could use that as an excuse with your stylist. It's your hair. Don't let the stylist boss you around.

Looks really good Mona! The angle is very nice now. Can't tell about the layers, but they look good from what I can tell (not too short, which is probably good for now; if you do go shorter, the overall silhouette will be a bit rounder, not sure if that's what you're after). Give it some time to settle in, and at the very least it will grow back to the longer length if you find you liked that more. For now it looks super cute

Oh, I think it looks better than it did before, and very pretty. I agree with your decision to live with it like this and not provoke your hairdresser. Its never good to upset someone who holds sharp scissors!

Oh I like this cut even better! Would love to see the front view! Is there any possibility of changing stylists...you shouldn't have to feel guilty about wanting a good cut!

Agree with others...this is quite beautiful. Give yourself some time. If you decide to grow it longer, it should do so nicely. My hairdresser says that hair grows at uneven rates, and the back of the head faster than the front!

Well, I guess I commented about your hair on the wrong thread! This looks shorter than in your NYC travel capsule post. Were the pictures taken at the same time? You don't show a front view here, but on the other pictures it still looks like you have some nice length from the front. Anyway, as I said, I love the wavy wildness. Keep going back to your stylist until she gets it like you want it (and tip well)! They want to see you happy too. It's a process, as I told my hairdresser. She didn't do anything wrong; I just didn't know what I wanted until we started hacking into it. Now I have her well trained and it was worth the awkwardness!

I like the shorter length. I agree with the others who say to leave it here for a while and get used to it. Then when you go back next time, you'll have a better idea about how the cut grew out and how it can be better next time.

I think you'll get used to the shorter length soon too. It looks really fabulous!

Joy, you are the voice of wisdom in my hair conundrrums. This length is not ideal for collars but I think I have to leave it there. I don't want to go super short yet. I will see how it feels in a few more weeks.
Aida, I was hoping you would approve. My problem with the stylist is that I think she is a little bit intimitadet by my hair and probably does not do how to do choppy layers.

merwoman and clearlyclaire, I actually like my stylist. She is the only one so far who I feel comfortable with. I have tried numerous hair stylists in Kingston and nobody even came close to what I wanted. I think they are just not used to cutting so much hair. My current stylist has been very patient with me with this new haircut and kept telling me that I can see her again if I wanted to change it but I just felt that her smile was a little less cheery the third time Hopefully, I will have her trained soon. LOL!
