Salons will be opening soon, and the place where I go has said folks with cancelled appointments will be given the first chance to book. I’m expecting to be contacted this week, since my December 29th appointment was cancelled when a new lockdown started December 26th.
The plan is to go longer, rather than try to maintain a shorter style through the on again, off again cycle of closures. Below are pictures of what my hair looks like washed and air dried (without product) and at the end of a week after braids, ponytails, and hat wearing has smoothed out all the curl. I go through a period of ‘straight’ hair every winter, but as soon as there is humidity in the air - May through October - I wear it curly.
I’m waffling between two styles. One is a blunt cut with a few layers around the face to blend my fringe grow-out. I’m using Nicole Kidman as style muse for this example, although there are few pictures of her with curly hair at this length. I think worn curly, it would take on a pyramidal shape - but not too bad looking once longer (below shoulder.). The second cut would have much more layering through the bottom up to mid ear. It would create an oval shape and bring out the curl more, so appear shorter. I should be able to pin it up, but not in a scraped back clean style.
FWIW, I prefer to wear my hair curly, and do so most of the time.
#1/2 hair in it’s natural air dried state. (Back view is flattened from wearing beret)
#3 hair in straight state
#4/5 Nicole Kidman blunt bob style (little or no layering)
#7/8 bevelled/layered style
Which style do you think would work best for me? Any other ideas? Suggestions? Styles I should consider?
