H & M crop flares with animal print

The cropped flare trend doesn't seem to have hit Oz yet, or at least in my neck of the woods. I have been loving seeing everyone look so fab in theirs and despairing that I couldnt find any.

I've just returned from a short (mostly work) trip to Hong Kong where I decided I would look for some. My first stop was GAP but they were way too short. Then I found these at H & M.

I wore them out for the first time today. To my eye they look fine, but I got some funny looks, and queries about them from SAs. My sis said they looked weird and my mum said she wanted to trim the threads...lol. I told them that the style would be everywhere soon. I wonder though....

You look great Coco! I have seen them around in my neck of the woods so I wouldn't worry. Witchery has some that are very similar to yours but they did not work for me. I will have to check out H&M!

Thanks Brooklyn. It's still quite warm here so maybe they're still to come. I don't mind, but it's funny hearing what people have to say, good and bad.

I think these look really good on you, and I will admit to having a bit of a poison eye for the trend. That poison eye is fading a bit, though, after seeing so many here on YLF style them so well. I tried on a pair last night at Gap but they looked hideous on me - way too snug down the legs like a pair of skinnies. I think I need to pop in to H&M and try these on.
I'm just starting to see people wear them in my part of the world as the warmer weather is approaching.

Beautiful! Boho lite. I think you look amazing in that style. I know you were going towards black and white minimalism and you look fabulous in that type of style as well, but for casual wear, this is a look that you wear to perfection.

I love the jeans and the styling! The jeans remind me of the Current/Elliot ones I have, which I need to wear if I ever get some time when I don't have to do messy work AND the weather cooperates. When I wore mine, I feel like I did get a couple of quizzical looks, but I don't mind. In my city, you see all kinds of styles, so I'm happy to push the norms a bit.

You look great in these jeans! Love them with the top too . I have yet to see anyone wearing them here in Canada (that sounds like a very sweeping statement - lol) but they are in stores now. A lot of Canada is still a ways away from Spring weather though.

The elegant boho styling really appeals to me - and I'm bookmarking this photo for future reference.

Karie, the Gap ones were not flattering on me either, not only in length but also around the thighs. These aren't perfect either, and I will probably always style them with something longer, but they were so much better than the Gap ones.

Thank you kerry, Gail, El Cee, shedev, Wendy, Diane, Aquamarine, Bonnie and krishnidoux. I'm so happy that you like this look. The top is quite old and not so easy to style, but I love it and think it goes well with these jeans.

Tanya, I'm thinking of wearing them to work to see how some of those stuffy academics react!

Suz, I'm always drawn to a boho look and it really suits the casual 'beachy' lifestyle where I live. I've focussed on black and white minimalism for my work capsule and it seems to work really well, but it's been too hard to limit myself outside of work (and sometimes for work depending on my mood). I'm trying to think of my wardrobe and purchases in 3 categories, B & W minimalism, vintage or vintage inspired and boho. It allows me freedom, but still provides some direction.

Angie, I've missed posting too...it's been so busy..and my office has been revamped to my choosing which is nice, but hard to take photos now because everything has been rearranged. Hubs takes some pics at home but he complains about it. My bedroom mirror is terrible for photos. I'm thinking about getting a big beautiful mirror for the bedroom and I can snap away to my hearts content. Photos really help me see how my outfits look.

That's interesting lisa. We are in Autumn now and I'm expecting them to come out for Winter but maybe they won't be out until next Spring. I'll be a real trendsetter! lol.

They look so good on you. I have taken some time to get used this look and I am loving it. I am not seeing the look 'on the street' so to speak but it is all over the internet. I wonder if we might see it here more so in Spring?? You look gorgeous, proportions are very cool.

You've done a great job styling the crops! Cold weather has a toe-hold on Toronto, but I have seen crops and frayed edges 'in the wild'. Mostly they are styled with high vamped boots under, but I saw a brave young thing do tomboy with converse and bare ankles! They are in the stores, in window displays and styled on mannequins-and have been for the past 2 months.

Coco - you've just written something that has struck me like a thunderbolt:

This is what is missing in my planning, and in my mind when I shop. It's always been a vague and abstract thing , and why not commit and outline 2 or 3 "capsules" that I can plan for and shop for ? Duh. I can't thank you enough this morning - I had spent part of yesterday tidying and cleaning up my bedroom, putting away clothes etc - and got into a bit of a sorting session......feeling like I need to get a handle once and for all on what to wear and what the heck it is I have in my closet. Thanks for this: this simple 2-sentence idea.
