Contestant number one is here - help me evaluate? It's a very comfy jersey knit - thick and hefty, no VPL. Sized down per the Nordies rec. Good length, color, and seems to be correct size - not tight or loose. I feel it is pretty darn "ME" in style, but how's it look?

1 - Am I seeing thigh lumpage here? It is NOT tight, but does it look tight? Does it look like cocktail wear?

2 - Arg, blur. If you can still make out the pleating, does it emphasize my short waist?

3 - I usually hate the back views of things, but this I don't hate.

4 - Attempt with longer blazer... don't love it.

5 - Attempt with dark blazer.

This is gorgeous! Frankly, I think it's better than ALL the tiered dresses... it's hard to tell the color. Why don't I ever find dresses like this? Sheesh. What's the other dress? This is going to be a bloody battle!

The fit of the dress is spot on in my opinion. Colour is beautiful. No thigh lump age. I think the pleats make you look long and lean, not short waisted. Not good with the long jacket. Fantastic with the short jacket.

I was afraid it would be too body con for work but seeing it on you I think it is perfectly fine. All this draping really helps to de-emphasize the body-con factor. It is very flattering.
Lovely color and it would be perfect with white shorter jacket - I don't like it much with darker jackets.

Beautiful! I don't think there's any thigh lumpage - it must just be that picture because none of the others look bumpy. It looks office appropriate with the jackets - I like the first one best.

Love the fit! Like the colour - although it's sweetness for your patriotic UWP'hood is surprising - no?

It's needs a little more styling experimentation, Rae. I like it best with the tone of the grey jacket in #1, but the boots seem off. I also really like it with the striped blazer - but again to my eye the warm tone of the boots seems off. Try your new lace-up Fryes. Cream booties. Denim jacket. Just my 2 cents.

Ah, and here I thought it went with everything! I wish I could wear denim jackets to work, though that is a fun idea to dress it down if I have occasion. Ok, back to the drawing board with some cool colors!

Hm, it didn't strike me as sweet - is it the color you mean? Too key lime pie and not enough sour lime?

Even without seeing it on you, I cannot see how the second dress could outshine this one. You look GREAT in it! I'm not fond of the boots with it, but a nude shoe would be perfect, as would grey or black pumps.

Ok, trying again with cool colored toppers. This dress is proving kind of hard to style - I love it alone, but I just don't have that many work toppers that go with it. All of my cardigans looked terrible, and looking closer I can see the inner tier seams show through a bit... not that big a deal since it has all the texture anyway, but thought I'd mention it.

I love the dress color and cut on you, but I'm having a hard time with it for your style. It seems very Grecian and classic looking to me and the RATE elements seem incongruous with it. But maybe that's the point! IDK.

The dress looks wonderful on you. It seems to work well with the grey items. I think the brown boots are okay with the dress since they are essentially neutral with your skin, but they don't go with the grey of the pinstripe. Just my opinion. Go lighter on the shoes? What about those Dalmatian ones. Would that be nuts?

Are, this is beautiful on you. I prefer it with a short jacket, but I do like the idea of the longer grey cardigan in the new set of pics.

I think I would like to see a non boot with this dress. Do you have pumps. The dress seems to lend itself to a more classic look..WDYT?

I think the fit is great on you. I agree with more structured or classic footwear (I know that's not really you) because the dress looks a little like an unmade bed (I know this is how it's supposed to look, I personally prefer the bandage styles - which you have also) the boots make too casual for work IMO.

It's a gorgeous dress and fits you beautifully. But as others have said, it somehow feels incongruous with the booties and some of your toppers. Whether it's colour or style...the dress seems to be begging to be styled in a more "classic" way with nude sandals or pumps and whites or other softer colours. It is the shade of green combined with the cut, I think. BUT...knowing your styling genius, it would be possible to make it work, and if you love it, I think it's important to think about that and consider your style may be evolving a little bit! It really does suit your shape gorgeously. Looks way better on you than on the model.

It's a very pretty dress Rae, and I do agree that it looks better on you than on the model. Realy like pic 2 and 3 from your new stylings, the black boots definitely go with it better than the brown ones!

I love the dress. as far as the styling, I think you need lighter, more summery pieces to make it congruent. I'd add a light colored cardigan and nude boots. Do you own any sandals or summer shoes?

Rae, it's a gorgeous dress and very flattering on you. I think styling is the only hurdle. I like it best with the really fitted, classic blazers --- the last one in the first set as well as the blue in the second set, as well as the gray jacket right on top.

But it would be nice to have a couple more options too. What about something really bright for contrast --- not sure what you have, but red or yellow maybe? Or using a shirt as a topper? Or layering under the dress instead?

Footwear... maybe something a little sleeker or paler? or considerably brighter? I'm not sure the boots work in terms of register with the blazers I've liked best over the dress --- though I have to say both boots seem to work on their own with the dress, especially the darker pair, which I actually do like with the blue blazer but don't entirely *love* IYKWIM?

Thank you for all the great suggestions and observations - they've really helped me make a decision, and I'm leaning toward returning. It sounds like you all think it is not my style!

- Cardigans - I tried my traditional cardis with this and hated it. Didn't work with the neckline, and I felt too soft.

- Some of you mentioned the dress feels very sweet and feminine or grecian. Well, I didn't see that at first, but y'all are wiser than me, and I see it now. Perhaps I need more "hard," dramatic pleating (as in my gray dress) versus draping like this.

- I do have pumps, and I'd be fine wearing them with this, but I'm not keeping anything that I CAN'T wear boots with. If the boots are out of line, it's not worth it. Boots and jackets are the core of my wardrobe.

- Evolving style... maybe. But I'd like to MIX it with my existing style. I just can't go from zero to all classic like that - cardi, draping, and pumps all together with NO toughness? Sigh... I guess it's not a match made in heaven...

Looking at the new set of pics, I'm confused. I love the dress on you - alone. I can see it's going to have its challenges in terms of styling though. I'm discovering in my own little world that if I really have to "work" an item to try and wear it, maybe it's not the right one? I'd like to reserve my vote until seeing the second dress.

This is a great learning curve for everyone on the forum, Rae. You have introduced a new colour into your wardrobe and are trying to create a capsule around it - with what you have in your closet. Good job.

Now you can make an informed decision about the dress. Does the new colour mean purchasing other stuff and are you prepared to do that? Or can you make it work with what you have. When Anna introduced mint and pastels into her wardrobe, she virtually bought a whole other capsule to work with both the mint and the blush - and was prepared to do it.

Regarding the second lot of pictures, #1 and #4 work very well. The black boots bookend your hair and the light jacket makes a huge difference.

Hope that makes sense.
