good reference websites - YouLookFab Forum

Hey YLF Friends- since still relative new to forum- I have done postings that have raised questions in North America and around globe about 2 websites. Figured I would just put these sites out for general FYI. Please add to this list so we can all have a place to land for general good reference sites related to forum but not necessarily fashion sites. I access my 2 by google but I’m sure other ways work too.

I’m starting with 2 picks ( hope you like them)
EWG- skin deep section- Environmental Working Group site that evaluates and rates makeup and beauty products for safety. Great for USA people highly allergic to most products or wanting to id ingredients in products. Since US is behind Europe in banning some carcinogens this is a great site. raised on lipstick post if you want to see others talking about it.

The Laundress- website that sells laundry products but you can get suggestions on how to launder items without buying. These girls started analyzing all sorts of fiber and made products to use on them to cut down on dry cleaning. Have been written up in lots of fashion magazines. Raised on how to clean/ hand washing garments post.

Efbgen, Inge puts out a bi-weekly call for interesting links and articles and posts them all together with summaries/reviews. You might want to keep an eye open for her post and submit your links.

Thanks Cat. Folks posted some great websites on that thread. Maybe we need to find a way to reference them for newbies so we don't re-post a similar thread. I didn't go back that far when I came on. That will teach me. Maybe if I find spare time I will have to go back and check out older posts.

It's all right, efbgen. We can't expect new members to go back and check all older posts. And OF COURSE we can have conversations about same or similar subjects after a while. People come and go, and as we live and learn, we may have interesting points to add to a discussion--or even see matters from new viewpoints.

I just referred to that old post in case you and others would be interested in some of the websites mentioned there. However, all members should feel free to add interesting websites here in this new thread.

Thanks Cat- I tried to not go back to far because when I first joined I saw a forum post of of someone asking why was the thread being brought to the top because it was an “old” thread. After seeing that post- I figured being a newbie it was best to stick with current and not go back.
But now I know what to look for so I can check back “Inge “ posts- just don’t post on them- lol.

I've been using the Laundress products for my hand-washables (I hand wash all my wools, silks and linens, except for highly structured items like jackets), and am a huge fan! I never knew about the website, so thanks for bringing it to our attention.
I'm an chronic spiller, so info about stain removal is always useful!

Ryce- I was surprised when I first used their question and answer feature. They came back with a very detailed write up of what I should do- step by step on cleaning a mens (Indiana Jones type) rainhat. Impressed the heck out of me! Hope it works for you.

I didn't remember the earlier thread, so thanks, Cat, for mentioninng it.

One website that I refer to frequently is temptalia.com. The gal who runs it tests out lots of different kinds of makeup and then rates them on things like pigmentation, longevity, texture, etc. She also lists dupes for various products. I've found it to be really helpful when I'm considering a larger makeup purchase like an eyeshadow palette.

efbgen, I love the EWG site and go there often. I'll have to check out the Laundress site. I have a sweater-pill remover from the Laundress.
