I'm curious about their fit (Find #1). I bought lots of sizes, so we will see.

I LOVE my trendy Rag & Bone denim culottes I got for my birthday (Find #2). They are my favourite blue jeans at the moment - and I wear them more tailored than the model. The Gap jeans give me a similar vibe albeit not nearly as flared. I like how non-distressed they are. Looks fresh.

I've been eyeing these, as well, but wasn't sure if they read too old school/mom jean/borderline frumpy if not styled properly. You'll nail the styling no doubt! But for us more fashion-challenged, I'm curious which way they swing.

I've become a little obsessed with finding jean styles that "free my thighs." I'm just tired of them being encased. Interestingly enough, this feeling has come about as I've gotten in BETTER shape; I'd expect the opposite!

Those look great! 100% cotton and a nice dark stonewash. I have a pair of 501s that look very similar on me, but I wear them cuffed instead of frayed. I'm curious to try these sometime, though Gap pants are usually a fail on me.

Anne -- I know just what you mean about wanting looser fits as you lose weight. My own theory is that when you have a little extra jiggle that "holds you in" feeling that spandex provides can be a psychological boost. I wore nothing but skinny jeans and running tights for at least six months after my son was born, and it was the exact opposite of my usual preference.

I think I might try these! I still want to try the rough hem and I like the otherwise clean look of these. Plus, free my thighs = yes, please.

I've not had much luck with denim lately - ended up returning the CoH white ones and the Hinge skirt. These or the JCrew dark straights seem like my best bet for the fall.

Anne and La Pedestrienne, personally, I think you might just feel like the change. After encasing myself in skinnies for while, I was ALL OVER boyfriend jeans for years. Then overnight I wanted to wear tailored jeans again. I gave away my boyfriends ACCEPT for the whites because they're slim fitting, and dressier than the blue. More like relaxed skinnies. I'm back to wearing tailored jeans for about two and half years now, and love it.

Isabelle, yes - but with a crop and high waist this time. I'm thinking Modern Retro, which is why I am drawn to them.

Viv, I had my white cropped COHs altered to fit and love them. It was sooo worth the expense. My favourite white jeans. Which J.Crew do you mean?

(I tend do better at Gap than J.Crew for jeans).

I bought the gap jeans yesterday at the Scottsdale Gap. I bought the size 27 in regular. They fit me just like the model, since we are the same height ect. I like the loose fit and straight look of them. Wearing them with my new Paul Green booties in cigar brown and a white tailored blouse with a hot turquoise saddle bag. Silver jewelry and silver mirrored aviator glasses.

Confession: I'm one of the first lemmings into the sea. I ordered these 45 minutes ago. Me and my curious, freedom-loving thighs just have to try them. I ordered the regular and the tall length to compare.

Angie: The only boyfriends I wear now are my Dres and I wear them more like a slim straight jean. I'm also on the lookout for dark bootcut jeans to wear with a heel - haven't worn this cut in AGES, but I think it's one of the most flattering cuts for me.

My denim choices seem to be heading back to the '90s.

Oh, I love my new CoH white crops!! Love!! I have to have them hemmed a bit because they're not quite cropped enough on me. They're a button fly instead of zip which is a bit funny at first, but fine since they fit me on the loose side.

I also got CoH cropped "straight" jeans that are actually like a baby kick-flare on me, because of the way they fit. I like these a lot too, even though they have more stretch than my ideal jean. The rise is a nice high mid-rise which I find is good with a crop.

Still trying to replace the Racer (CoH) with something in the same type of fabric but a higher rise -- so far, no luck -- but these turned out to be good in their own way for me. I seem to get a really good fit with CoH generally. The fading turns out to be in the right places for me, which isn't the case with all brands.

I would try these wide straights from Gap as well. I fear they'd overwhelm me a bit, but it is certainly worth looking into. Can't wait to hear how you find them, Angie!

Anne, may I suggest getting wider flared jeans as opposed to slim hemmed boocuts. I LOVE mine in both blue and white. They are my go to dressy jeans. You are right. Very flattering, and somewhat graceful too. (And your lemming cracks me up). Very fun to have you back on the forum.

Angie, here are the JCrew jeans (from the outlet). They fit my body well and are a nice dark blue.

I'm definitely experiencing a little thickening at my waist and thighs -- not permanent, I hope -- but the result of very sketchy exercising this summer. Not enough to go up a size but enough to make some pants in my current size just not right. As a result pants are hard to fit. The Halogen crops went back, too! But the glorious Teddies love my body, thankfully. Maybe one of these jeans types will too.

I'm definitely staying tuned, Angie, as Gap always works better for me than J. Crew, too, and I have yet to purchase a cropped pair. So, modern, I am not, at the moment, but I'm ready for a change since I'm still wearing skinnies and semi-skinnies and have stopped wearing my BF's. Confession: I think I'm not sure what my crop length should be and that's why I haven't bought any and simply roll up my jeans!

Have we seen you in the Rag & Bone pair? I'm thinking "yes," because you said they were more tailored.

Thanks, Angie. You can bet I'm wearing the new jeans into Autumn. I needed a refresher for the white jeans capsule and both pair were on sale -- I had a feeling that the blue pair would be my perfect autumn jean for higher shaft booties and a try on session last night proved me right. So I'm set! They might not work for deep winter when I really do need full length.

I am iffy about petites usually because of the rise (and the leg is sometimes too short, too) but I will check these Gap ones out just in case, in a bunch of sizes.

I have been wearing the new T by Talbots athleisure line. Soft, comfy, and kid grubbiness either doesn't show or comes out easily. Comes with cardis etc.

My go to brand of jeans started putting slimming panels in ALL their products. Very unflattering on me. I have to size up until they're all but falling off!

Waiting for Kohls to restock the JLos I like so well. Hoping they will with the fall stock. The 2 pairs I have are being hand washed only unless too dirty and only worn on casual Friday.

Angie: I love the look of flares, but they'd bother me in winter, which is the season I'm looking to fill with the bootcuts.

I was looking at those Gaps too - but they struck me as SO wide right from the hip down that I couldn't quite wrap my head around them. I suspect they will suit someone with your body type really well, Angie, and you too, Vivian. (That straight, slim-hipped shape.) I think on someone with a curvier shape and in a bigger size, there is a slippery slope into mom-jeans territory . They also looked quite high-waisted, which was a deal-breaker too. I can absolutely envision you in these, A, with high shaft white booties, your blue CM sweater, and your ink pea coat later in the fall. And now I am obsessed with Linder's outfit description and need a vintage hot turquoise saddle bag.

Linder - will you ever grace us with a few photos sometime? You sound like you have the most awesome style.

Vicki, you need cropped straight flares! 2 inches above the ankle bone. Easy. (You haven’t seen me in my new Rag & Bones yet).

Lisa, actually, I’m not slim-hipped. Inverted triangles, rectangles and most apples are slim-hipped. I’m slight all over but not narrow in the hips, thighs and bottom. Still hourglass-y - just not that curvy. That's why I call myself a Straight Hourglass. To your point, the high waist could be a problem, which is why I ordered the petites too. (Gap runs big). That said, my Rag & Bones are high waisted and amazing. We will see.

I think I saw these in the store recently. The rise seemed VERY high. (Far too high for me). Funny that they are calling it a mid rise here....

Love that they are 100% cotton. I just got some 100% cotton flares from gap, actually, but should post them for feedback as they are a funny ankle length...
