FYI Canadians -- RentFrockRepeat (dress rentals)

Hi YLFers --

I know some of those following my (and other YLFers') Rent the Runway experience are Canadian. In searching for something else I came across RentFrockRepeat. Toronto showroom, Canada-owned and -serving.

Zero knowledge other than what's on their site and blog but wanted to share.

I have been looking through the dresses on the website for RentFrockRepeat for a wedding this summer. I have seen a few I like. Apparently you can go in ahead of time and they will help you pick out a dress or you can do in by Skype. I have heard good things about them.

Hi Vix,

In my search for a MOB dress, I tried out RentFrockRepeat in February.
I booked an appt and spent a couple of hours in their Toronto showroom. I had superb assistance in trying on the frocks...but nothing really rocked my world. Dress selection was very limited for my size 0/2 so that may have been part of the challenge. Alterations aren't possible with the rental. It was fun to try on expen$ive designer wear!
I ended up getting a good deal on the dress below - and maybe it will get more than one outing.

Style Fan, how did you get to see the dresses on the website? Did you have to register first?

I have registered with the RentFrockRepeat website. I can save dresses I like.
I am not sure if I am going to go that way. I will let YLF know if I do.

Please let us know how it goes StyleFan. Renting designer dresses sounds like a lot of fun.
Seems like the rental concept might encourage you to wear something more original (because you don't feel compelled to get multiple wears out of it).

I used Rent Frock Repeat for a black tie wedding last winter. It was a fantastic experience. You need to make an appointment, and it helps to go to their website and pre-select the dresses you want to try and they will have them all ready on a rack for you. They were very helpful and accommodating.

I rented a Nicole Miller gown for $150 plus a 15% discount for first time client. They shipped it to me 2 days before the event and I mailed it back the day after. (It was a non- wrinkly fabric or I would have picked it up).

All in all a great experience. I have no need for a long gown in my closet and felt very appropriately dressed without the huge expense.

The downside is that they do not alter. It was fine for me as I am 5'8" and almost every long gown I tried was perfect length, but if you are shorter I can see this being an issue.
