Full length dark jeans and some other things

Thanks to Angie for inspiring me to add a pair of full length dark blue jeans to my wardrobe. These are Levis slim straights which Marks (for the Canadians) carry. They are too big in the waist but seem okay every where else. They are the same as another pair I have.

I wanted the view of the blazer because I wondered if it was starting to look a bit dated and it is cropped. I like a cropped blazer but perhaps that is not the best look for me. Someone recently told me I had a long torso. I never knew that. How did I make it to 62 and not know that?

I am considering the burgundy cardigan from Club Monaco. Any opinions on that silhouette for me? (see Finds)

Any and all comments are welcome. Sorry if the post is a bit rambling. I have had an incredible number of migranes this past month.

The jeans look amazing on you, and are a great buy. The outfit with the cardi is beautiful, those are your colors. I really like the CM burgundy cardigan and vote get it.
I don't know what to say about the blazer. I have a very long torso, too, and recently posted a thread with my suits where I asked if longer or shorter jackets work better on me. The opinions were fairly divided.

Well, I'm not sure about this rule about jackets and torso length. I don't think short jackets look bad on Tanya. I don't think long jackets look bad on me. Anyway. I like the jacket on you, I vote classic, not dated.
You know your colours well, the bronze top and orange cardi look great on you.
Jeans fit well.
Re the cardi : I'm unable to judge something if I don't see it on the person, clothes in Finds don't speak to me at all, sorry.
Hope the migraines lift and you feel better soon.

YES, you have a long body - wave to Tanya and Anne. Elegant. I would dress you in a longer blazer, and there are many around at the moment.

CM cardi is fab if you are okay with the volume. I know you prefer to define your waist.

Thank you Skylurker. The rules on jackets and torso lengths is puzzling to me too. (Add on the fact that I am lost figuring out my own body type, etc.) I stick to familiar colours and that seems to work for me.

Ah....what a beautiful day we're having in Ontario! I don't have a clue about correct jacket length. I'm much pickier about pant lengths, so ask me about that sometime.

Great jeans. They're now on my radar. They look good for curves.

Yes Smittie the weather has been amazing this past week. Today is yet another wonderful warm day. We are finally getting summer. I have shorts on for the first time this year.
The jeans are good for curvy women. Still inches big in the waist but that is nothing new. That is what belts are for.

Jeans look fantastic on you - and I can't wait to figure out a pair for myself. I have not had 5 minutes to get to a store lately - I seem to be doing more things on-line than ever. Marks is easy to get to, park at, and shop in (because there is never anyone in there!) - I'll make a note to check these out this week. I haven't tried on Levi's in 100 years - how's the sizing?

And re: jacket length - I'm not great at it either. I can now see that you do indeed have a longer torso, which is why you can wear those Jesse Kamm pants so well. And now that Angie mentions it, a longer blazer would look really great here . I like that CM sweater - such a lovely colour . Must pop in there soon too.

The jeans are really great on you!! They are a super fit and really work well on your shape and for your style.

I like these cardigans for lounging or for casual wear - ie car journeys, wearing in the cooler evening.

The jeans look fab. I personally think you could do the cropped blazer and jeans together. It looks good. I like the cardigan for you as long as it's not too voluminous at front. It's hard to tell in the pic. I think of you as having a more streamlined, tailored style. Not arty/oversized (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Thanks Lisa. I am going to try the longer blazer next. Marks is easy to shop at and they allow dogs. I find the Levis sizing to be one size larger than my normal size. This is because of my hips. The Marks in our town has a large selection (larger than online) of jeans and footwear. I am going back to try on some booties with block heels.

Thanks Sal. Finding jeans as you know is hard work. I may go back and get the black ones. Yes the cardigan would be great for lounging and travelling.

Thank you Brooklyn. I prefer to wear a more streamlined look. When I try an artsy look I end up looking sloppy. The area we live in (Muskoka) is very beautiful. We live on a hiking trial that goes to some waterfalls. I love that hike.

This jeans are fabulous on you and I think that the blazer look great too. But apparently I also have a long torso which I was not aware of and I wear a lot of short and cropped blazers myself:)

Thank you Anchie. I do like this blazer. How does a person know if they have a long torso? I am reading up on this. I was so busy figuring out how to dress a pear body I totally missed the other stuff. What is next?

Jeans look wonderful. And I like the cropped jacket, but then my fave jackets are cropped so I think personal preference is coming in. What a beautiful lake! It reminds me of my favourite LM Montgomery book called "The Blue Castle". And on a medical note, maybe a migraine preventer? I am sorry to hear you haven't felt well. The new cardigan looks a great colour for you.

Thanks Jenni. The new jeans are a win. They will go into my travel capsule for November. I also like shorter jackets. The lakes in this part of the world are beautiful. That lake is called Lake Muskoka. Thank you for your suggestion. I am always open to medical advice regarding migraines. I am on a preventive medication (after trying several). This time of year is always difficult. Weather changes I suspect.

The new jeans look great. Skylurker, thank you for the link. I needed the reminder especially as higher waisted jeans are now more common. On my short-waisted body (one hand) I hope that a midrise Jean will be ok, especially with an assemetrical top or short boxy top worn untucked.

I think I'm long waisted, too. But I think if I wear a long jacket, to me, it seems like it's emphasizing it more. I guess I've been doing it wrong!

Huh, that blog post on long vs short waists is interesting. I have more than two hand widths, but my hip-to-knee length is also more than 2" longer than my torso measurement. All I can think is that I have a proportionately short chest/upper torso? Chest pockets on shirts do tend to sit somewhat lower than they ought to on me...

Sorry to hear of your migraines, I hope they settle down soon. I love your new jeans and like how you have styled them. I love the burgundy colour of the cardigan you are looking at. I have a waterfall cardigan and find it too voluminous for me, so I hope your one works out. Great to see Sophie too.

Joy you always look amazing and seem to know how to style your clothes. JAileen I always felt a long jacket looked off on me. I didn`t know why. I think the length has to be right. I am trying to figure that out. LaPed some of these guides are confusing. I am finding that. Bijou the cardigan is a beautiful colour but the style is probably wrong for me. I don`t do well with volume on top. At least I don`t feel my best that way.
