I have to say, I tried these but could NOT get my foot into them. Something about the heel shape made them impossible to pull on. I read a number of complaints about this issue, perhaps for high arches? I have super-narrow calves, so they would have been good if I could have gotten the dang things on my feet.

If you don't feel great in tthem, Tarzy, you'll hate them eventually, especially at the price, so you're making the right decision.

I love the Dorados, and I don't think they look too 80's or pirate at all -- I'd give them a try myself if they weren't so pricey.

Well dang, Tarzy...that's too bad about the fit. FWIW as a wider-calfer I agree with you and feel your pain.

[And I have a feeling that pain would be literal if you kept them, because since you can't pull them up those suckers might end up cutting off your circulation!]

FWIW I do think that type of boot in the proper fit (higher, slouchy) would be great on you. I think we'll be seeing LOTS more styles roll out as fall really kicks in across the US, so knock wood your boots will cooooooooome la da di daaaaa.....

Oh Tarzy I am sorry the Frye boot did not feel right. Keep looking you will find the perfect boot. I almost gave up but I think allot of ladies are having a hard time finding the right boot. You have got everything else right I loved the post with the Halogen houndstooth top it inspired me to get mine out. I will follow this post for the perfect boot.I think we are looking for the same type of boot.

For what's it worth, Tarzy, I had the same reaction to the Frye Rory boot when I tried it on. It's a gorgeous boot, but not on my leg, especially from the front and rear. I'm still looking for that elusive, slouchy boot to wear with jeans that doesn't make my leg look like it's on steroids.

AJ wore these in a recent photo and they looked fab. I might give them at try. They're 11" high, 14 1/2 Circ, so not sure it they'll work or not. The cognac's very pretty, too.

Tara, try those! I really like them too. I bet they'd work.

That BP boot is gorgeous, especially in cognac. I'll be waiting to hear your review on it; if it looks good on a large calf, I'd order a pair myself-- even if I have to pay duties and extra shipping to get it to Canada.

Tarzy, do you think maybe you're not feeling the fab factor about the Frye Rory's because your eye just isn't used to it? I think they look great on you and they are a beautiful rich looking boot that will age well. I also think they would work well with a skirts/dresses where some of the other flatter options might not. Have you tried them with the KC tunic and skinnies? Can you pull them up as well as scrunch? So many questions :)! If you've already moved on from them, no need to answer. Just making some suggestions.

Just my 2 cents, and I don't know anything--I think you are making the right decision. The boots are gorgeous but I think something looser in the ankle would give you the silhouette you want. Congratulations with this thread though, you have stoked my longing for the rorys.
