Diane's top-knotting trick has intrigued me ever since you lovely ladies explained how it works, so yesterday I decided to give it a try on a day when a couple of different outfits were necessary. I had a normal work day in the daylight, but was going to see a play performed in a local park at night. I decided my elbow-sleeve orange blouse would be fine for both occasions, and that the dark blue pencil skirt I'd wear during the day could easily be swapped out for boyfriend jeans in a similar colour for the evening. I was thinking that leg coverage would be key to avoid being eaten alive by bugs, and boy was I ever right, but that's another story. :p
Another advantage of the orange top was that it gave me a chance to try out Diane's styling tip. And assuming I've executed your instructions correctly I have to say I love it! The diagonal line adds so much interest, and I felt sleaker during the day and more chic at night. The daytime sleakness proved helpful upon running into a significant ex on the subway, too, so there's always that.
Below is the daytime outfit only, accessorized with gold Abby sandals, long gold earrings and the bag.
At night I switched to the Kut Catherine jeans and swapped out the earrings for a white and gold bangle + smaller white earrings. Same sandals and bag.
