There has been a lot of interest in white jeans on YLF lately, perhaps because Angie loves them and looks so good in hers. I have been trying (and failing, lol) to love them on myself. I've tried on dozens of pairs. I haven't quite been able to put my finger on the problem, but I think it's related to the fact that white jeans are crisp and polished and fresh-looking, often with a slight preppy vibe. Those qualities don't work well for someone who's got a well-established RATE style. I just feel "wrong" in them.

But white jeans have such a breezy, summery vibe, which is what I'm after. Then yesterday I came across the jeans below and, because I've had previous success with this brand and style, tried them on just for fun -- and I LOVE them. I had never given super-faded-out blue jeans a second look before, but these look way better on than off. They have the exact summery feel I was searching for, without the polish of bright white jeans. The relaxed but slim fit is perfect. The frayed hem is also a nice touch -- it wouldn't fly for winter pants, but works surprisingly well for summer. For some reason, I see summer as a very casual season.

Anyway, these jeans feel much more authentic for me, and I thought I'd pass it on for anyone else who's after a summery alternative to white jeans (although maybe it's only me...). If you are interested, they are Rag&Bone Dre "Clean Portland" wash.
