Nope, I'm not a fan of stonewashed jeans either. If the jeans aren't faded enough, they just look like -- as Greyscale says -- "regular old jeans". And I'm not going for the "normcore" look, if that's even still a thing.
I think I'm going to call this wash "dingy super-faded blue jeans". The jeans look great with either a black or white top, and black leather shoes -- both chunky heels and flat oxfords.
Clever of you to sort this out. Now, I'm just *not* a faded denim person, and I love my white jeans...but then, I don't have a rate bone in my body...however, this thread has opened my eyes and provided yet more grist for the fashion mill.
I have such issues with white jeans. I like them, but I'm always getting them dirty and staining them. I just ordered the R&Bs on nordstrom.com where they are price matching!
Fascinating. I love white jeans (but am the last thing from RATE) but I also would love a super faded jean -- just not a "yellowish" dingy one! Well, my loss is your gain. And I am super glad you have found your summer jean.
Too bad they didn't make BOTH those faded washes (like on the Nordies site and your photos); then we'd both be thrilled, because I'm a fellow Dre lover!
I used to feel the same way you do about white jeans - too crisp, too polished, etc. but then I found some True Religion distressed BF jeans that I loved -'which led me then to getting a pair of GAP distressed ( much more than the TRs) jeans which I've almost worn out because I wear them so much! I really think there is a way to wear white jeans while maintaining a RATE style!
Thanks! Now I know why I don't like white jeans; crisp is not in my style description. I could definitely incorporate some highly faded jeans into my summer wardrobe as a substitute.
I don't wear white jeans much either. Don't mind some preppiness, but white is simply not practical for me most of the time. I like the light wash jeans, even though they are definitely more on the casual side. By no means RATE, but Boden carries jeans in all sorts of colors (selection is better in ankle and cropped though).
This is very interesting to me. Since early spring, I've added one pair of replacement white jeans and a couple of pairs of light denim. I've yet to wear the white jeans but reach for the light denim all. the. time. Hmmm ...
I do have a preppy streak (teenager in the 80s) but my mid-forties body is decidedly NOT preppy (squishy), so I don't sport preppy much. Maybe that's why I'm not wearing the white. I'm also quite RATE in my style (very casual) so maybe the white jeans are too polished. I'm going to try and style them this weekend. Thanks for the insight!
