Can you shop Zara, Zaeobi? Came across these while jumping on the parachute pant bandwagon with Janet and others....

They would probably need to be chopped off a bit, but otherwise?? Thought I'd at least draw them to your attention!

Yes, we've got Zara - H&M too. Mostly in non Asian sizing too, thankfully (for me)

Ooh they've even got a cargo pocket too! Ha yes, I'm short Not sure how easy it would be to hem a faux leather fabric? That said, I think a more solid fabric like this probably won't look great wide legged on me - perhaps I could take the extra hem to make into elasticated ankle cuffs instead? Hmm...

Hmm good to know @Suz but will have to think carefully about whether I *need* a pair of trousers like this in this climate - my 2 new-to-me pairs of jeans are *still* sitting unworn in my closet because I tend to reach for my satin cargo pants instead, lol...

Let me enable you as well - Banana Republic Factory has a nice pair also. I've seen them in person and am very tempted! Limited sizes, but they are already cropped.

I have sewn faux leather and it is not too tricky. You need a new, sharp, needle, that's all. I also have had a pair of such pants hemmed and they look great!

Is it like sewing real leather where, once you 'puncture' the fabric the hole shows quite visibly? My sewing skills are rudimentary at best - might need to outsource this...
... though this cropped length seems like a much easier (read: lazier) solution, lol! It's a good thing (for my wallet) that Banana Republic does not ship here though If I'm ever back on the other side of the pond, BR will be one of the first places I hit up though - I'm really liking their warm-toned revamp!

Zaeobi, I found it like sewing ultrasuede - some where between fabric and leather. A brand new needle specced for faux leather will not leave a noticeable hole. I made a pleather skirt and really liked working with the material.

I note that for the pants I just had hemmed, the tailor used a double needle with a zig zag stitch on the hidden side, to give the pleather a little stretch, and sewed right at the raw edge so there is no additional fabric turned under. Very neat and sleek.

Just need to say that I have had all faux leather peel , especially with cleaning and washing. My latest was a pair of gloves. The “leather” just peels off the backing. Coated denim that looks like leather also eventually leaves only the backing. I find real leather lives longer and even improves with age. If you only use the pleather for a season it will be fine but it also does not store well. Think of it as a one season wonder.

Yes @Joy this is why I haven't jumped back onto the faux leather bandwagon just yet - I still remember the atrocity that used to be called 'pleather' (instead of 'vegan leather') lol, think that's why I'm reluctant...

People posting wonderful 'faux leather' outfits here is changing my mind though - looks much softer than I remember! But perhaps not suited to this climate...

Zaeobi, you are right. Vegan leather must be a better product. It looks soft, but so did my gloves that are going to a landfill. No one would want to wear them. The faux leather outfits posted here look great. It is definitely climate sensitive as leather and the faux version cut the wind and feel warm. At least Vegan leather can be worn in the rain or snow. Moisture just wipes off and does not leave spots.

I dipped my toe into the faux leather trend by buying a relatively inexpensive pair at Target. I am only 5'3" so I knew I would need to hem them. I was a little scared of using a needle and leaving permanent punctures in the fabric. I searched on line and found where it apparently is quite common for cos players to glue faux leather with a glue called E6000. I cut off the factory hem and flipped up the hem to the right size. I glued the hem with the E6000 in stages with dry time between sections of hem. I also placed a weight on top of the hem as it dried so it resulted in crisper fold in the fabric. I was very please with the result and it has held up well so far.

I haven't tried washing the pants yet, but I have read that the glue is waterproof and can be washed or even dry cleaned.
