As promised, here's my review of the Boden 'Longline Hooded Puffer Coat' in Orange - oops, I mean 'Fire Opal'
https://www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/.....-u0093-ora (you may need to search the Boden USA/ other websites for your local stock)
BACKGROUND:
Spoiler: I will sadly be returning it (for the reasons listed at the very end). But it could look fab on the right person!
For anyone who missed it, this coat was featured on YLF by Nikki Garnett/ Midlifechic:

REVIEW:
FIT
So I'm on the cusp of petite & regular height (5ft3.5, & yes that half inch counts!) & am pear shaped (I usually fit a UK12 on top/ UK14 below - though waist definition skews that). I ordered the UK14 petite.
COLOUR
First of all, I suspect Nikki was using a filter in her photo - it's a much lighter colour for me (apologies if my photos aren't great - we're finally getting 'winter' light here! The only full length mirror in my flat is the furthest from any windows - hence I'm not a blogger )
FEATURES
I feel Nikki did a better job of showing these off (with clearer photos!) in her blog post:
https://www.midlifechic.com/aw.....its-boden/
In addition, I want to highlight the:
~ 'double' pocket (slip on top/ flap top closure under);
~ double zippered *everything* (both the outer coat & inner coat's attachment to it);
~ the thumbholes - be aware it felt *slightly* tight on my hands when reaching for things, but I have average to slightly longer arms (for my height, that is)
~ soft lining of the outer pockets (feels silkier than fleece);
~ fully functional inner coat, with pockets (with a press stud closure!)
+ Care label at the end, if you need it
LOGISTICS
This is the part that gave me pause - as amazing as having two coats zippered together is, the inner coat is actually attached *inside out*, with tiny buttons in the outer coat's lining (I've highlighted it as best as I could, but essentially the inner coat attaches at 3 points of the outer coat's lining:
~ the nape (this was the easiest to detach, with the wide loop)
~ the hem (2 button loops on either side)
~ the sleeves (this was the trickiest - I've pulled it out for the photos but these button loops actually sit *inside* the sleeve tube. Closer to the cuff than the shoulder, but still! I had a hard time reattaching it, if I'm honest).
Technically you *could* get around this by wearing the inner coat without reattaching it to the outer one, but I suspect the lining would keep moving around if you did (so YMMV on how uncomfortable you'd find that - especially in deep winter!)

MAIN TAKEAWAY:
Hope this helps anyone else who's interested - I tried to be as thorough as possible!
I think this coat would be truly fabulous on someone who:
~ suits a lighter orange (or the navy blue, if it comes back in stock?);
~ doesn't need waist definition (i.e. you can rock the 'ambulatory blanket' look);
~ doesn't mind fiddly buttons (or plans to keep the two coats together/ separate for long periods of time, so it doesn't matter);
~ doesn't live in a subtropical climate (oops Think I let 'future' fantasy purchasing (for returning back home) get in the way of my *current* real life dressing needs this time!)
