Flared skirt and recent WIW's

A beautiful day and Angie's blog post inspired me to break out a skirt. Swapped the flats for boots because it's still a little cool for bare legs. I think the proportions still work--I'm sure I can rely on you to let me know if I'm off base You won't hurt my feelings.

Recent WIW's too--nothing new, just fewer layers because of the warmer weather. Not happy with the jacket and the bootcuts. I think the length of the jacket is awkward--most of mine were too short or too long. I felt stumpified but I just rolled with it. A blazer would have worked but wasn't the right vibe for the event. Oh well. Win some and lose some. Gratuitous cat shot because Davey looks SO good in green! He's my lap warmer.

ETA: Whoa, I need to lay off the stripes. I had no idea that I wore them that much!

Kelly you look lovely in stripes, not need to limit their wear:) You also have a formidable boot collection. #1 is super cute. On some women I find this look a little juvenile but you have nailed it, I think because your proportions are spot on and you have kept to block colours. As always you just exude natural style.

I think all the looks are really good. The only thing is after seeing you in all these looks Is that they all have a similar silhouette.It would be great to see you in something fitted or flowy.

Both of the outfits you're showing in picture 3 are my favorite of yours, EVER. You look so cool in boyfriend jeans rolled or unrolled. Really flattering too.

Hi Kelly, your looks are all really good, but they all seem to follow the same colour palette of neutrals, dark denim and dark blue. Your skin tone is warm and personally I think you'd look good in a top in salmon, coral or peach. Just my two cents!

I am not an expert on skirts but I think the proportions look fine in #1 and you look gorgeous in mint sweater. You have a great collection of stripes and boots.

Your B&W striped top is gorgeous on you, as is the whole outfit... as is this whole series.

The green top with the skirt and boots, so playful and fun.

I see nothing wrong with bootcut/jacket combo, with that belt buckle nicely showing it has masculine vibe which I actually really like. The neckline of the black top is very feminine though, as is your pretty face, so this whole things works to my eye.

Davey is too cute.

As a long-term fan of your style all I can say "more please". Stripes included.

The flared skirt in #1 is fab! You've styled it in a strong, modern way with those terrific spring boots! The dark bf's are clearly delivering for you, too!

As for stripes? You collection has lots of variety in silhouettes, width, color and contrast. No worries!

It's really hard to pick a favorite because they are all great outfits! I really like the stripes in #3 and the last one in #5. (I guess I'm partial to stripes myself). The one with the cropped denim vest is great too.

@Deborah: Thank you. I think you are right about the skirt--combination of length and fabrication. I’m glad it passes muster though because I still like it. I’m trying to get some of my underutilized boots into rotation before it warms up too much--that’s the problem when you have “too many” boots (did I just say that?)
@jayne, bj1111, Mona, shevia, CF, Beth Ann and 4babiesMe: Thanks! I am glad the stripes aren’t reading as the same. I think that’s my favorite way of adding interest to a very plain outfit. I like the simple lines.
@Agnes: Thank you. LOL! I guess that’s why I call it my uniform. I try to mix it up but I always fall back to what is comfortable. Now that it is warming up, I hope to have better luck changing it up.
@Denise: Thanks! I really love those Kut BF jeans. I like my SBF but something about the fit of the Kuts is just so flattering.
@Molly: Thank you. I’m definitely on Team Low Contrast and Neutral. I think I have a few brighter colors but they seem to only come out in summer. I’m going to work on color this week--maybe even for today

@Ornelia: Thanks! So interesting, I think you just pointed out what bothered me about the bootcuts. I am drawn toward a masculine style but I think this looked too much so to me. I think it’s the boxy jacket that put it over the edge for me.

Kelly you have such amazing style, I'm so inspired by these looks. You make me want to wear stripes more often, and I'm not a fan of stripes on myself at all. But you make me think I should try. That striped outfit in #3 is so brilliant. That shirt is fabulous and paired with the BFs and the laced boots, it is perfect!
