Hi Everyone! I found Angie's blog and this forum about a month ago and I've been enjoying ever since. There is such intelligent conversation about fashion, and tremendous inspiration. I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself, and give you some insight into my style. I'm a stay-at-home mom to three kids and I live in Canada. I love fashion, and I have a fairly extensive wardrobe. But I live a very casual life, in a climate not exactly conducive to great style in the long winter. The shopping in my city is not exactly inspiring, so I tend to make most of my purchases online (which poses its own challenges) or on vacation.
I tend to resort to a uniform style of dressing in the winter in particular. Silk blouse or a sweater with skinny jeans. The jeans are so much easier (as opposed to other pant styles) to deal with when facing large piles of snow, as they are easily tucked into boots. And they don't drag along the floor without shoes (indoor shoe removal is definitely a Canadian thing). I'm not the layering type, as I can't stand the feeling of being constricted, though I love the look on others. However, I want to challenge myself more, utilize my wardrobe more effectively and creatively. This forum has really been an inspiration, and given me the motivation to try some new things.
I'm sharing a photo of a standard sort of outfit for myself, from yesterday. What I wore to my guitar lesson and to pick my daughter up from school. Though in all honestly, I wore my Sorels and a large parka to contend with the 10" of snow we received the previous evening. This new Rebecca Taylor sweater had arrived so I had to wear that. It's a one piece but this two layers of sweater. There is an exposed zipper up one side so you can reveal more or less of the leopard print. Skinny jeans, Rag & Bone Newbury boots. Not sure why the silver hardware on my bag is reading as pink, but I can assure you that it is not.
I look forward to getting to know all of you and for your continued knowledge and insight.
Tina
