finally some more wedding pics...

1. pre wedding dinner. me and hubby. I'm wearing a white dress modified into an indian outfit with leggings and a dupatta/scarf.

2-3. the wedding ceremony itself. I am wearing a sari. full length photo unavilable at this time. my daughter is pouting because she wants to go play with new found friends.

4-6: cocktail reception: in pic 4: from left to right: my brother , me ( doing the Angie in a black dress, black/grey pearls, gold scarf and nude heels), my mom, the groom and bride and my maternal grandma in the wheelchair.

Sona, you have such a beautiful family! I love all the colors; these photos are a treat for the eyes. You daughter is so funny with her sulky face! And your mom looks so youthful. You have some great genes! The bride's outfit is stunning, too, what a beauty. Do you have henna on your hands? I hope we get to see a full-length picture of your sari.

You look so much like your beautiful mother, Sona! She looks so elegant. You also obviously come from a line of ladies who 'do' colour awfully well --- look at your mother in magenta and you and your daughter in your colour-blocked outfits!

You look truly resplendent in that first white-and-gold outfit. And so stylish in the LBD and pearls. Indeed, hubby looks very smart in his silver suit too, and your daughter's absolutely angelic in her white rosettes! Thanks for sharing these joyful moments.

Yes I have henna on my hands. I'm hoping for a full length pic soon. The bride tells me she has over 5000 pics to sort through!! Thanks for the compliment regarding my Mom. We get takenf or sisters a lot. i'm ok with it now and appreciate it for the compliment it truly is but had ahard time some ten or so years earlier that anyone would think my MOM was my sister!! Funny how with age you value your parents mroe it seems like....

Ana: I decided not to go to J crew. I got a call from my tax guy about how much we owed in federal taxes and I think I may not be able to shop..EVER again!

ETA: Then I saw Sylvie's shopnow code and ordered the blythe in sand ( final sale) and the polka dot popover she ordered too for $100 including shipping. Now to hide receipts from hubby until taxman is paid off!

You guys are all adorable. I just love Indian clothing. The bright colours look so beautiful against your skin. Hope you had a fun time!

Funny thing: two years ago my daughter, who is blond and white as white can be, wanted to be an Indian princess for Halloween -- and by Indian, she meant "from India", with, as she described it, "one of those pretty floaty dresses that goes over one shoulder and doesn't cover your belly button". It was so fun! We went down to Little India and got her a sari. I had never been in an Indian shop before. There were so many beautiful ones that I wished I was getting one! Anyway it looked really cute on her and she still puts it on occasionally (it still fits because it's actually a skirt and top, of course, and she's only growing upward at the moment).

I'm dying to see a full-length shot of your sari. I'm loving the cobalt with beautiful jewel tone trim that I can see of it!
I can so relate to the picture of your reluctant daughter! We have a family group photo from years ago with one of my daughters sitting with arms crossed and scowling at the camera because she wanted to try out her new roller skates. At the time I was so irritated with her, but now it's a priceless memory of her independent (and stubborn!) spirit even as a child.

Aww, what a beautiful family (and friends). I love how your Indian looks are ornate and classy without going over the top (as umm, I've seen way too often for my tastes). Your most skillful outfit is the cocktail reception outfit, as you pull off the "Indo-western" mix beautifully with a black dress and that gold scarf.
