This was yesterday's (kind of inadvertent) challenge outfit. I had on this jacket, pants, and top as just a normal, non-era inspired outfit, then realized the jacket is about as close as I can ever imagine myself getting to a power suit look. Plus, something about black/white tweed worn with dark pinky shades just says '80s to me. So I decided to run with it.
Shoes clearly had to be my new perforated pointy-toed pumps. And earrings are matchy-matchy oversized studs. Granted, this is a pretty mild take on the whole look, but it was fun to think about while getting dressed.
I can't say I'm really ever inspired by the power-dressing part of 80s fashion. But I think I have a slight soft spot for it just because, when I was growing up, it was what women wore to do Important, Glamorous Things. So there's some weird part of me that may still see boxy, shoulder-padded jackets and giant button earrings as things to aspire to.
All comments/feedback/suggestions that I give puffy white sneakers a try with this look next time are totally welcome.
