Thank you, Barbara Diane. You made me feel really happy.

Sterling -- What a lovely ensemble you selected today. And again, a great color combo! I adore the pattern on the blouse. Barbara Diane -- That was a marvelous costume idea… super fun '60's flower power right down to the fabulous accessories. Smart thinking to use your tie dye swimsuit coverup as part of the outfit. I get it about the need for "cozy clothes". I finally started updating my "at home" capsule last year, with lots of inspiration from YLF. I am inspired by Sterling to now work on my gym/activewear capsule. My current one is, honestly, quite pitiful. Joy -- Hope you are comfortably settling back home after your journey. "See" you all tomorrow!

Thank you, Sterling. I'm glad to see the turquoise earrings and red blazer with your black and white.
It was a day of grocery shopping, putting things away and laundry. I wanted to make a run to The Rack to pick up a jacket I'd had altered, so wore EF bone knit pants, black shell under a black Tildon loose weave sweater and snake loafers, so I had a black and white outfit today too. I wore a scarf with ivory background and delicate black line drawing design of flowers.

Welcome back, Joy.

Thank you, Sterling. I forgot to say that the 'orphan' is the black pullover. I enjoyed wearing it today and got compliments on it. An SA at Nordstroms thought it was Eileen Fisher! I think my climate is the culprate. I need to think of ways to layer it for really cold weather. The fabric is linen, cotton and a bit of polyester. I like that it has enough structure not to look sloppy.
BTW, Clear the Rack starts tomorrow also a triple points day.

I am going to wear my trousers paired with my white button down. Red blazer as outerwear.

Sterling and Joy -- Love your black and white ensembles! You have inspired me to do the same today… with a bit of denim thrown into the mix. My infrequently worn item is one of those shoulder season orphans (last worn in Fall) -- a poncho wrap sweater. The remainder of the outfit includes a new pair of denim culottes, a favorite knit twist front top, black leggings, black riding boots and silver jewelry (necklace and hoop earrings). Very boho today.

You guys are on a roll!

Wow El Cee. You have so many unique style personalities. How do you like your culottes? I've been tempted by them in black.

Yep, Sterling -- I am sort of all over the place with style personas, a true eclectic I guess. [Sometimes I wish I could just embrace one style. It certainly would be easier on my closet. ] This was the first outing for these new culottes and I loved wearing them… but I have always had a thing for culottes. (Weird, I know.) I have a more sedate pair in black that I adore as well. They are really more of a "wide leg flared crop" than a traditional culotte as the flare isn't quite as pronounced as it is on the denim pair. The black ones are also very business appropriate.

I'll bet you look fabulous, El Cee. And as for having an eclectic closet, that just shows you have imagination and creativity.

I personally have been trying to get myself down to a few "uniforms" because I feel more authentic in certain silhouettes. When I experiment I don't always find my footing as easily as others do. This means I am very much a late adapter of trends. You can count on me being almost a full year behind everyone one else on this website.

Sterling -- I think you have a very lovely, refined style. You should not feel you need to change a thing, especially since you know what feels right and authentic for you. Your style reminds me quite a bit of that of one of my best friends. She has a uniform of sorts (although it does not look "uniformy" to me) -- lovely tailored black pants or dark wash jeans, sleek loafers, an interesting top -- usually in a dark shade (often a sweater with a very interesting, rich textural element) and a pair of fabulous earrings (usually something with an interesting gemstone). She will, from time to time, add a pop of bright color with a handbag. Her style is striking, elegant, and rather minimalist. She always looks like a million bucks -- as well as looking authentic and comfortable in her own style. I really think the "authenticity" that you mention is such a key component to looking and feeling good.

El Cee, I love those denim culottes. They are Fabulous!
When I was younger (and let's be realistic, thinner) I had a few pairs of culottes that I loved. They just don't work for me anymore. Just not flattering enough.

I really appreciate seeing your outfits Joy, El Cee and Sterling. Each one of you has given me new ideas.

Today's outfit - black pants, black fringe booties, red shirt, turquoise ring and since my ring is not as dramatic as Sterling's earrings, a necklace with blues and greens. Thanks for the inspiration Sterling. I'm also going to try a similar outfit with a black and white scarf instead of the necklace. And maybe look for a turquoise necklace that complements my ring.
The piece in question was the red shirt. The look could be freshened up with a newer red shirt, but for now, it stays. The ring was too sentimental to give away, but now that I see I can wear it with red it will get much more use. The necklace also hadn't been worn recently so I may shorten it so it works with more items.

I love that there isn't one "right" way to dress on YLF. Many style personas or more cohesive, etc. We're all exploring what we like and what we look good in and feel good in.

Thanks for being on this journey together.

Sterling and Barbara Diane -- I am loving your color combo of red, black, white and turquoise and may do something with that as my inspiration tomorrow. And Joy -- I plan on trying your mint and gray color pairing over the Easter weekend. Yes -- I am an unrepentant copycat!

Today I am revisiting a graphic print open front cardigan that I had evaluated as an orphan a couple of weeks ago. I am still undecided as to whether I want to hang onto this piece or not as I am not convinced that it plays well in my closet. I want to take a couple of stabs at styling it before I decide yay or nay. I will be wearing it with a burgundy sweater dress (mid-thigh on my tall body -- so essentially a tunic), black ponte knit pants, black booties, a pair of beaded necklaces and some simple gold earrings. I need something that feels like PJ's today, so I think this will be just the ticket. Hope all of you have a good day!

My post last night got lost so will try again. Barbara Diane, the red and turquoise with black is a winning combination. You are right that you will not see one way to dress on YLF. I've come to appreciate many styles on others that I would not wear myself.
El Cee, my DDIL would love your open front cardigan. Your outfit looks appropriate for the cold spring weather. We are having snow right now and strong north winds.
Yesterday was mild...high near 80 degrees F. I ended up wearing things I save and felt great wearing them for running errands. I wore a column of ink blue...Eileen Fisher slim navy pants, silk tank and linen longish cardi with a silver dog whistle as pendent on a long silver chain and navy kitten heels outside. Sterling, thank you for the encouragement to wear items we are "saving".

Wow Joy -- hard to imagine going from near 80 degrees yesterday to snow today. Crazy! It is so hard to dress for this unpredictable weather time of year. But you make it look easy. I love your ink blue ensemble. The dog whistle pendant is fabulous. I do not even have a dog and I want one.

(I forgot to post).

I have the next four days off as Holiday. I will be dressing casually (with occasional spurts of dressiness at Holiday events).

Today very casual. Painting. More painting. Will it never stop?

I want to comment on this Caslon tee shirt. I have commented that if I were to buy it again, I would size down. But I still love it. I love the color. I love the feel of it against my skin. The neckline is just perfect. It doesn't expose bra straps, bras, or my belly button. It just skims along my clavicle.

Also, El Cee. I love the way you always add a necklace. This is something I want to learn from you. I certainly own the necklaces. I wonder why I forget to add one?

And Joy. Your midnight blues always take my breath away. I am striving to add more of that color to my wardrobe.

Waves at Babara Diane!!! I am so glad you found the color combination pleasing.

Sterling -- I really like the neckline on that tee. It is so hard to find one with both a deep and wide scoop neck that does not reveal bra straps. I have not yet tried the Caslon line -- and should. What are you painting, may I ask? Your home? Interior or exterior? Either way, that is a huge job. I admire you for taking that on yourself. Enjoy your time off from work and the Easter weekend.

Painting the bedrooms/bathrooms. Painted one bedroom over Christmas and it looks so good that it made all the other rooms look dingy in comparison. Working on one room at a time on the second floor. I am hoping not to start on the first floor.

Painting is a social event though. I have several friends that come over to help. I do all the prep work the night before and we can get one room done in a single day. I am using the same exact colors (all whites and off whites), just refreshing them.

Just a note. I personally can see differences in the "whites." My friends see them all as white.

Would you believed I haven't yet picked out what I'm wearing today?
Actually, it's because I went through a lot of my clothes again and culled out some more, and pulled out a few that I'll need to lose weight to fit into, and then brought in others items to try on because the lose-a-size and the spring/summer clothes had gotten co-mingled. And then I got really hungry and went into the kitchen in what I was wearing, and then went to check something on the computer and got waylaid by YLF. I guess I only need a final outfit if I leave the house.

Joy, I thought 70's and heavy rain in the same week was something, but 80's and snow. Wow. And the dog whistle is so cool. Midnight blue is such a wonderful color. For years it was my favorite color in the crayon box. I love watching the sky go dark.

El Cee, I forgot to say that your print open cardi looks like my DDIL's style and colors. Such a fun and happy piece.
Sterling, how is the painting project going? I like the Caslon tee but even their smallest size tops are designed for someone with breasts.
Thank you, Barbara Diane. It looks like we are back to winter for awhile. We have a snow/rain mix predicted for Easter. I need to rethink my outfit!

What I wore today: the white rash guard was layered under the white sweater for warmth. I also wore nude knee sheer highs for foot warmth.
I wore a coat similar to that in finds below, except that it is an EF sort of dark grey metallic trench. I liked the duster look over the skinny pants.
My seldom worn piece is the white EF linen/cotton pullover. I think it is because it is a transitional season piece. The rash guard layer helped add some warmth, but I think a long cardigan over it would also help.

Painting is done for the weekend. Yay. Something good accomplished.

Wow you guys are inspiring!!!

Cheering for you all -- wohoo--

I have no idea what I am going to wear today. I am hoping that caffeine will spur me to get up and start moving soon.

Joy -- Your outfit for yesterday was so simple, refined and lovely. The metallic trench is gorgeous. It must have looked fabulous worn as a duster. Barbara Diane -- I have had those days too where I do not need to leave the house so I just stay in comfies. You achieved plenty yesterday by just sorting through and culling some of your clothes. That is something I need to do. Sterling -- I hear you on the need for caffeine today. On my second cup. Yay for you finishing your painting work! Hope you can now rest and enjoy the long weekend.

Hubby is home and we have some indoor domestic projects to keep us busy. I am copying Joy's Mint/Gray color scheme from St. Patrick's Day. I desperately needed some inspiration just to get dressed today -- so thanks Joy. My unworn item is a gray sweater coat that I will sport as outwear. It is one of those shoulder season pieces that just does not see much time outside my closet. I will also be wearing a mint hi-lo long sleeve tee, metallic skinny jeans, pewter driving mocs and a mixed metal/mother of pearl necklace.

El Cee, I'm humbled to have been an inspiration for your lovely outfit. Today is Good Friday, so church services to attend. I am still deciding what to wear today and also hoping caffeine will help clear the mind. Angie's ensemble post seems a little too casual, but I am inspired by you to wear my grey coated jeans before it gets hot...if that ever happens. It will be a cold day, so I'm thinking of pulling out a woolen sweater from storage where they have already been washed and packed away. Maybe jeans, pullover sweater, booties and bling with warm outerwear will be my look today.

Today is the last day of our challenge (six weeks!!!!!). You have all been the most interesting women and I loved reading your posts every single day. I feel so lucky to have gotten to know the three of you. Thank you for participating for six full weeks. I know I learned a lot about myself. I hope you learned a lot about yourselves.

El Cee -- your constant upbeat and positive attitude was infectious. I frequently found that your attitude set the tone for my entire day. Every time I wear a necklace I will send you a silent thank you for the inspiration.
Joy - you are one of my topmost style icons. You were my style icon long before this challenge though so that is not news. I came to appreciate your eye for color during this challenge. Your color palettes literally saturate my computer screen. They scream "class" from across the country. I will be copying them in my near future.
Barbara Diane -- It was such a pleasure getting to know you. You added so much food for thought. I frequently turned over your posts in my mind and tried to apply your thoughts to my life. You were fun. A lot of fun.

To the other posters that encouraged us along the way. A special thank you to you all. You just made us try all the harder.

I want to go out with a bang. Here are my choices to day. GAP skirt. Black silk tee shirt. I may even go so far as to style my hair.

My goal is to capture what I learned. I intend to go back through the weeks and summarize those tiny epiphanies for future reference.

Sterling -- Thank you so much for starting this challenge and for keeping us on track every week. I have learned a lot from this exercise and have even developed better daily habits… like actually "planning out" what I am going to wear in advance and putting more effort into analyzing and utilizing my full closet of clothing, not just a small part of it. These are things I want to continue to do beyond this challenge. I see now that I needed the discipline of 6 weeks to create these new patterns. But the best part of this experience was getting to know you, Joy and Barbara Diane on a more personal level... and learning so much from you stylish ladies. This was so much fun! My YLF participation had been rather sporadic over the last couple of years, but now I feel so much more a part of the community and will be looking forward to more active participation in the months to come… perhaps even joining another style challenge.

Sterling, thank you so much for this challenge. It made me consider the unworn over favorites and try to figure out why some pieces I like go unworn. For one thing, I find that I need to consider appropriate seasons and layering possibilities more when shopping. I was also encouraged and inspired by you, ElCee, Barbara Diane and the others who commented. I need to continue to consider my summer wardrobe next and now feel more capable of making good choices.
