Would appreciate your thoughts on what to wear to an October, outdoor, early evening wedding. Venue looks like it backs up to the redwoods and terrain looks paved but not flat—so shoes on the more practical side for sure. Shopping my closet and found two dresses that might work—my reasoning is they’re too dressy for work so they must be dressy enough for a wedding? Probably won’t wear the OTKs and I can lose the faux fur if it seems OTT. (My moto jacket I think will work with either dress.) Seems like all of my other dresses are too summery and/or was something worn at one of the other two weddings with this family. Also adding a few WIWs on the odd occasion I wasn’t wearing jeans. TIA!!

#1 for the wedding. If it’s outdoors in October, in the PM - why not the OTK boots?

Thanks, Carla! They got the thumbs down from DDs. I have a sock bootie that might work but the heel isn’t very stable. My preference would be black Docs but I’m not sure that would fly…

Both dresses look fab and wedding-worthy to me. I like the faux fur topper and booties with the black dress. I'm with Carla on the OTK boots with the floral dress, and I think the black moto would like great. But probably not worth going against DDs' wishes...

Your outfits are fantastic as always. You are rocking the neutrals!

#1 with the sock boots sounds good. We aren’t very fashionable in the Valley and the OTK boots would net you some side eye.

I love the first dress, not so much the boots. First dress looks better in terms of warmth for the time of year/time of day. And I would love to see how pattern mixing that dress with the gorgeous faux fur topper would look?
Do you have any flatter boots that are not OTK and not Docs?!

You look beautiful in both dresses. #1 looks the most festive and is gorgeous with the OTK boots. If the wedding is quite informal, I think the OTK boots will be fine and definitely more dressy than Docs.

Both dresses are fab! I can’t decide. LOVE the faux fur…so fun!

I struggle with shoes constantly for any dressy event so no help there. Adding an outdoor component in the fall would stress me out, shoe-wise.

Yep another vote for #1. The dress is perfect for the occasion with its long sleeves and the OTK boots are right on trend but I see its been opposed so you'd have to rethink the footwear for this option.

Oh, I’m not in majority so far - I love a black dress in #2 with brown boots. Look dressy and elegant to me. I don’t mind a faux fur with it, depends on the weather.

Cute frilly frocks! My favorite is the floral, as you might guess. The top in 6 is also great on you, if you have a patented bottom that would work for the wedding. I like the topper in #2. How about the otks with opaque black stockings/tights?

That purple dress is so gorgeous on you - but for a wedding , I’m with Irina . Black dress with brown boots . Very elegant . Love seeing the rest of your “regular “ outfits too . Are the brown front-seamed pants from Athleta ?

Have you tried the dress in #1 with the boots in #2? Just curious if it might work. Otherwise I love #2/3 - the fur is fab, but I get that for a wedding sometimes it feels right to tone down rather than ramp up a look.

I think pic 3 is perfect, as is. #1 is a close second Love the faux fur for the occasion. I probably would not wear a moto to a wedding.

Thanks, Fabbers! It sounds like I have two viable options and that quells my urge to go shopping so thank you! I have some old Miz Mooz patent boots that might work in place of the OTKs if they're not too "pirate." I think dress choice will ultimately boil down to the weather (and my mood.) Thank you so much for the reassurance! I can check this off my list.

@LJP: Yes! Brown pants are Athleta. So are the black joggers. I never thought I'd wear one brand head to toe but there are days I'm totally outfitted. Ha!

I think the dress in #1 is the most wedding-appropriate. Can you wear the topper of #3 with the dress of #1? Hectic, but it might just work....

Thanks, Angie! I will try the faux fur and the floral dress together. It might be fun. I also found a pair of d'orsay flats that I forgot I had. Wore them to the last wedding three years ago. Those might be the ticket.

I think both dresses would be great for the occasion. If wearing 1 I would wear ankle boots I think. I love it with the over the knee but maybe not fit a wedding. 2 is lovely on you too- the faux fur and boots are perfect.

I pick the floral dress, perhaps with other boots as recommended above. Love the faux fur, have no idea if it is right for the wedding though. You look amazing in joggers and sleeveless tops!

I love #3 (FAB! what is the brand of those pointy, shiny, brown booties? I love them) but it sounds like you are sorted for the wedding! Your WIWs are all a delight, per usual :).

You look amazing in everything, but I think the black dress is most wedding-appropriate. With the faux fur and blingy jewelry, you can look glitzy and fab, or if the vibe is more relaxed, a moto jacket and less sparkly accessories will be perfect.
