So normally, October would feel pretty late for fall style planning, but seeing as it's supposed to rise back into the 90s next week, I think I'm okay.
I've been feeling a pull recently towards more edgy styles, but, while I initially thought that was a shift brought on by the move, I looked back at some old posts and realized I felt the same way last autumn, or at least, I predicted this would happen once I moved into the city. In general, my fall/winter style is more grungy/urban than my spring/summer style, and my new, urban neighborhood just accentuates that.
Keeping that in mind, some goals for the coming season:
1. Balance pretty with grungy. I love florals and silk, but I also love worn leather and olive canvas. The key is balance, and realizing that my mood can shift back and forth between the two.
2. Recalibrate seasons. I have great outfits for when it's 90° and when it's 40°. I have very little for sunny and 72°. It's sunny and 72° A LOT here in LA.
3. Fewer but better. I'm getting SO much better at this. The average number of wears for items in my closet right now is 36. The median is 28. I want to keep being careful with my purchases, taking into account sustainability and quality, especially with my essentials.
4. That walking life. LA may be a car culture city, but my neighborhood is quite walkable and I hate driving in the city, so I plan to walk a lot. That means more emphasis on shoes and bags which, luckily, are two of my favorite categories!
