Faddy fun and never saying never

It's been a low buy year but a high-for-me buy month, and proof of why I have learned to embrace a never say never attitude!

1. The jorts/morts ... I posted about these already, a sensible classic that also feels fresh but that was not on my list as a need ... Yet I've worn them a ton since purchase already!
2. The H sandals (mine are Aldo but similar to find). I needed a smarter pair of sandals for my business casual workplace. I know these are designer dupes that may have jumped the shark on Instagram and you know what? I don't care. I love the style, these are comfy and I will wear them when they fall out of favour with the IG mom set.
3. Boxer shorts. I heard talk of this style on a podcast and my initial thought was this was a silly fad that I wouldn't participate in. Cue a cute pair in a shop on a super-hot day and ultra light poplin shorts sounded like a fantastic idea. I don't know that I would wear these out to lunch but around the house or quick errands with a just-polished-enough support act so I don't look like I'm in jammies, and these are great for me when the heat hits!
4. Sardine necklace. Same podcast trend report. I thought this was the most ridiculous fad ever, and was telling SIL about it on a girl's day recently. Sure enough we started spotting sardines everywhere ... On jewelery, printed scarves, even bedazzled onto shorts. By days end we decided we simply had to have matching sardine necklaces, so I found this subtle and inexpensive one at H&M and ordered two.

Never say never, fun with faddy fashion, and at four purchases for the month, I'm confident I can re-steer towards my low buy goals for the year. I'm calling it a win

Funny--I, too, have been wanting boxer shorts, or like the poplin shorts you show. I basically wade in sweat this summer, so it would be a good buy.

A "never say never " for me was a fall jacket in a large check print...in the severe, boxy cropped style. It seemed like it would be a nightmare for my body type, but it worked well. We seem to be in a "golden age" of cropped items....

Haha Angie it was Anthropologie where we saw the sardine necklace that stole our hearts ... The price point was too high for a fun fad buy, but it inspired us!

Well I didn't know they were called sardine necklaces, but I keep seeing fish bone type (very high end) versions of them all over socials. I do like them and am tempted at times, but they seem a little out of sync here as we are not exactly coastal, lol. At least Toronto is on a lake ;).

I also love your H sandals and have a pair of cognac ones myself from Browns from a couple of years ago - and I too don't care that they are designer knock-offs. As if I'd be wearing Hermes sandals anyways.

DD has a pair of poplin boxers from Aritizia that are the cutest things ever. I can see you in them ! Not sure I'd go there myself . I'm a little long in the tooth for such nonsense - hahaha.

Oh, I wore boxer shorts in my 20s! I loved them and I would wear them now — around the house! I say rock on to anyone who enjoys them.

I also say rock on when trends appeal to you so much that they transcend the trend moment and fit in naturally as part of your style. It sounds like you’ve found that.

LOL, I have been wearing boxer shorts as my summer PJ bottoms for YEARS. I do wear them around the house, but not beyond. Cool and comfy!

You have been very deliberate and careful with your low-buy year so far. A little summer splash out is not such a bad thing.

The sardine necklace is whimsical and adorable! And fish prints and jewelry just says "summer" to me. The H sandals are a classic and there are a lot of dupes out there for a reason. They are super versatile. The boxer shorts, I'm intrigued! They look cool and comfy to wear for hot weather vs a heavier material. And happy to hear the jorts/morts are already proving to be a summer workhorse. You have to love when that happens!

I recently purchased a dress after YEARS of not wearing one. And I've been able to restyle it so many different ways, it has the potential to be workhorse not only this summer but also for our transitional fall weather when it's cold in the morning and hot by noon. The dress after so many years of not owning one, is a great example of never say never.

My never say never item was a leather jacket! Sadly I've just donated it as its way too small now. I tried it on on a whim, curious about all the forum members who enjoyed them. Voila-it became a wardrobe workhorse!
