(ETA a decision downthread) Eyewear — again

ETA: a few new options. I have an eye exam coming up next week and will hopefully make a decision then. I was waiting for my husband to finish an appointment and figured I would see if anything else jumped out at me. Thoughts welcome!

I liked #4 better in person than in this photo-- but I do kind of like the nerdy/modern vibe.

#5 fits well, and I think the shape is cute, but I am not sure this colour will have great versatility for me. I'll be at another location next week where they might have a different colour in stock.

You all had lovely feedback on the first two I posted. Do any of these stand out for you as better than either of the original two contenders?

I continued my hunt for eyewear today while my poor husband underwent a battery of eye tests.

These two were the strongest contenders. What says the hive?

Oh jeez, I'm with Jenni - these are both really nice on you and give you a lovely lift. I would say pair one reads a little more trendy and funky to my eye, and pair two reads a little more classic ... if that's any help?

Helena - yes, I would agree that the first pair is a bit trendier but they don't feel "just" trendy, IYKWIM. The other pair have that nod to cats eye.

Angie, your "killer" always means a lot. Thank you!! As to the colours -- I wasn't planning on black glasses, but these have enough lightness to them that I don't feel they weigh me down. The other pair are a greyed blue with a fairly muted gold arm -- not exactly as colourful as my current pair, but I haven't found another coloured pair yet that feel as 'right' as the current ones do. It might be time for something completely different. I was struck by how much I liked them when I saw them in the zoomed out version of the photo.

Lisa -- I take your praise very seriously -- I seem to recall your honest assessment that previous pairs I had tried on looked good but didn't necessarily feel 'new'. I think maybe then these accomplish both, without looking 'trendy for the sake of trendy'.

Thank you slim cat and Stag. I'm not surprised voting is mixed. I am torn, too!

Suz -- You are so smart!! I am actually tempted to splurge on two. Zeiss has a half price deal for a second set of lenses, which makes it a bit more accessible. Considered turning one pair into sunglasses, but more likely would just get a clip for one of them.

I love #2. They are a great modern version of cat eye without looking silly. #1 looks kind of vintage. What color is the metal?

I’m drawn to number1, the shape is different and the black with silver seems to pop with your colouring. You remind me of Diane Keaton in these glasses.

Agree with Dee! I immediately got Diane Keaton vibes from #1, it might be the smile as much as the glasses though! Both look completely right on your face!

Thanks, Gail, suntiger, and chewy -- I'm happy to see both pairs getting love but it's not making it easy to pick between them.

Jenn -- can't say I'm surprised you would lean more toward #1 -- They skew much farther from the classic than I thought I would go -- but this one seems to hit the right balance.

Jaileen -- the metal is gold. Not super yellow gold. But gold. I never thought cat eye frames were for me, so these are a pleasant surprise. I have always gravitated to glasses with a bit of a classic reference.

Dee -- aww. I don't deserve it, but I will take my first Diane Keaton comparison very happily.

Thanks, Jaime -- I was pleasantly surprised that both pairs FELT very right, too.

They're both being held until I can get my eyes examined again in a couple of weeks. (yup, I have officially been looking for a year now, so I figure I should confirm the prescription before I do anything!)

Yep, I still like them, and as Rachylou says, they are "Kicky" and a different style direction than expected, it just depends whether you want to go in that direction.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with number #2, they look very nice and are a safe bet.

I like both and prefer the first pair. Really love it and think it’s very flattering and fresh but should also be something that will be in style for a few years.

Both are great, I like #1 best. It is hard, because #2 is a very flattering cats eye frame. You couldn't go wrong with either. In making the decision I would be swayed by which frame suits your prescription (if that is an issue) and which frame is lightest to wear.

I like them both, but if you're worried about the 'heaviness' of dark frames then I think #1 would be better for that. I like the fact that we can see more of your face with them

Thanks, Bijou! I was told both will be great for my prescription, and neither one seems particularly heavy to wear, so, I guess I'm stalemated - or considering both so I have options.

Good points about the heavier looking frame, Zaeobi. I don't dislike that the second pair come across as a bit more substantial -- I think it adds the wee bit of masculinity that keeps a cat eye from leaning too dainty for me.

Another observation I had is that the black pair in a lighter colour would probably start to feel like too much for me. It's got its three elements -- interesting shape, gold detail and the lighter colour at the temple. Adding a fourth element in the form of colour would take them over the top for me. Although they do appear to come in some cool colours according to what I see on the woow website. (My optician didn't have other colours on hand).
