Thought I'd grab a few minutes and fuel the fire for/against leggings, with or without skirts. I'm loving mine, and if loving them is wrong, I don't wanna be right Which is not to say they are for everyone...and that's OK.

#1 Sunday brunch, yes my neighborhood is crunchy like this. I fit right in, it not being high tea or anything. AG Nikkis, Miz Mooz chelseas, ON plaid flannel shirt and wool peacoat (plaid on plaid!). Nordstrom silver grey knitted beanie.
#2 Magenta tunic over long sleeve black tee and Spanx leggings, with 8telier jacket. Navy puffer and Blondo riding boots.
#3 Express mixed media sweatshirt over long sleeved black tee (again), worn with 8telier skirted leggings, Pikolino NAS boots and my sale BR snow leopard scarf. The Pikolinos are really hard for me to style and don't get out nearly as much as I thought they would, so, while black boots (short or tall) would have been more expected/"classic" me, I think they deserve some respect. And yes, I happened to have matching nails! I told you I was fixated on white and grey of late...

I love all these looks. This is what I was just saying on Suz's thread: I might try styling my skirted leggings with a trendy cotton sweatshirt. This looks just right to my eye.

Every one of these outfits is super fabulous! I really, really like them all on you, and I would wear every one of them in a heartbeat myself. The first one is just awesome and a perfect weekend look. Your plaid on plaid makes me want to wear plaid (and I'm not much of a plaid wearer). In fact, seeing this outfit on you is really inspiring to me, because I've been having these urges to go kind of round-toed, "crunchy" myself lately.
It didn't even occur to me that you might wear black boots with outfit 3. The Pikolinos fit right in, bookending the mid-neutral tone of the sweatshirt and echoing the edgy-arty style of the outfit. The skirted leggings seem a perfect length for you, proportionally. You wear them well!

First, I love your grey hat! I like the first outfit the most, the hat, the plaid shirt, everything. You look great in your leggings and skirted leggings and have styled them carefully. For myself, I am not comfortable wearing knit leggings but feel fine in woven slim pants as leggings, especially with tall boots and a dress that hits just at the top of my knees. The same dress seems too short to wear with tights for me. Legging love probably has much to do with the styles of your friends and good styling. Most people around me think of leggings as something little girls wear with skirts and have even told me so when I first tried wearing them. It's not the leggings or me but a preconceived idea that I'd rather not have to deal with. If I lived in an urban area I would probably dress a bit differently.

I love that sweatshirt and would love to have it. I have taken the 5th on any further discussions re: leggings. Too explosive. That said, I love everything you are wearing here, and you know how to rock a beanie with the best of them!

You look fabulous. But similar to what Joy said, leggings wouldn't work on me because my circle of friends would think I was trying to dress like a teenager and would say so. Their comments would be voiced as a "complement," something like "oh, you have such great legs ...." But I would know what they were really saying.

Love your looks. I wear leggings all the time. They work for my lifestyle and are pretty common attire for women in my part of the woods. No plaid though. I live in the land of lumberjacks.

Ahhh ... #1 I just totally love. That hat! So cute! And I knew the Nikkis in an instant. They just have a look that no other jean can duplicate. They look so fantastic on you. The narrow ankle is perfect for your petite size.

I love all of these, and I'm not even a huge fan of plaid. And the nails are fantastic.

I know what you mean about Pikolinos boots. I have a blue pair. Super comfortable but I find them a bit hard to work with. The undertone is a little green, and on your boots the undertone is a little taupe.

Love the look. I wear mine with a pair of Hunter boots and often a simple gingham buttondown. I also love wearing my husband's Levi's Western snap front denim shirt with them.

Thanks for all the love ladies. I'm loving that plaid coat in a way that I never though I could for a $30 garment! The Pikolinos are tricky Angie, mostly I think because have a taller/wider shaft than most of my other booties. I get 'flower pot' syndrome in skinnies/tights with my tiny ankles, but my BFs are too loose to stay in the boots and bunch, which makes me nuts. Seriously, I think that's one reason I've become such a fan of leggings. All of my other pants bag out in the knees and the butt when they fit my calves and thighs. I much prefer the sleeker look of pencil skirts on me, but I'm lazy and want comfort, and always have to dig through all my tights/hose to find the proper undergarment, considering the shoes I want to wear. I don't know about you guys, but I am rubbish at organizing my tights/hose....
