Esprit coat - more pictures

I tried to take more pictures of the Esprit coat. There are a couple with flash and some without. Please excuse the hair!

My natural waist is about in the middle of the waistband width, it's just that it's loose. On this picture I am holding a little in the back to see what it would look like if it were more fitted:

Marianne, my conclusion is that it's a wonderful casual coat, nothing wrong with it at all, and the hood makes it very practical. On the other hand, it doesn't have that WOW factor. Of course, not every casual coat you throw on to run errands has to be "wow."

Would you rather hold out for "wow" or be happy with a great casual coat?

I agree with Laura - it looks cute & practical and it looks roomy enough that you can probably wear a thick sweater underneath it without adding any bulk. I have to admit that I like the fit a little better when are you pinching it in the back - can you size down?

Marianne, I still like the coat, but completely agree with Laura that it depends on what you're after. If you're after Killer, I don't think it fits the bill. It is a great, false plain, casual coat that will probably serve you well. I, too, like it better when you have it pulled in the back a little.

Hmm...it definitely needs taking in. The style of this coat only looks good if there is some waist definition so that it forms to your body. Can you get that fixed? When that happens I think it will be a great everyday coat. I like the color.

I like the coat Marianne, it is very different. I agree that taking in the waist would make it even better.

Thanks everyone! The way the seams are, taking it in would be an easy alteration, but I am not sure it's worth the trouble. I'll think about it. Meanwhile, if you happen across something similar, please let me know!

I like this coat - the hood and the fabric are different enough from a plain solid to make it interesting. I think the waistband looks a tiny bot too low, but you have such a great figure that you can fully get away with it!!

Marianne, I would get it if you're in need of a coat this winter. It's a great coat and will work well for the weather here. I have a coat like that - very classic and nice but not a lot of wow. However, it got me through two full winters before I could find other options. And I spiced it up with bright scarves.

I am odd man out. I really like this coat. I think it's a little roomy, but that can be a good thing if you need to layer. I love the hood, and it has a certain elegance to it, in it's simplicity.

I think the "killer" instinct is missing because your showcasing just the coat. If you add a colorful scarf, and maybe a fun little hat, the coat will be a great canvas on which to showcase the rest of your outfit.

The location of the waistband does not bother me at all. From the side view, it shows a nice silhouette of your figure. You don't look like you're drowning in it or anything.

I'd love to see it unbuttoned, with a sassy short skirt, a turtlneck, scarf, high boots and a fun and funky hat!

Marianne - I also like that coat. I love the fabric. I would also like to see it not buttoned all the way up as Nicole suggests. I haven't seen many tweedy coats, but I live in LA and we don't have a great choice of coats here.

I recently bought this coat with a hood, but it may be too short for you if need more cover. The picture does not do it justice. I leave the top two buttons undone and it has a really nice shape. And a hood! I got the charcoal color:

I am leaning toward keeping it. I am not really after a WOW coat - if a casual coat can be all that. I just feel like I could use it a lot this winter. I am planning to get the tall docs and I think it'll be easy and comfortable outfit with skinnies. Oh and Nicole, I think you're right about adding scarves and other things - I feel I could do a lot with it. Thanks again for the feedback!

I see that you are thinking about keeping it Marianne, and just wanted to say that I agree. It's a beautiful casual coat, and I don't think any alterations are in order. This coat is not meant to be fitted through the waist, it's one of these coats that are a bit 'looser' and you look great in it (I love the hood and the colour).

I think it's a nice coat. Great for layering if you need to, and I just adore tweed. The waist band gives the illusion of waist definition, and even though having it taken in at the waist would look best, the band makes it look better than it would if it were just plain, kwim? It's also a great base for some great scarves.
