Entertaining / errand running . 12/10/22

I’m all fussed about this effortless concept now - I don’t do effortless and I’m quite sure I don’t have that skill set . However , we’re having a few couples over for drinks in 1/2 hr and I’m utterly exhausted with a sore back from all the housework and holiday decorating , so there has been zero thought into what I’d wear tonight . Is that effortless enough ? Normally I’d have my nails done and something new to wear , but I’ve had no time and zero f’s to give lately so I’m going with the flow and not giving into my usual holiday party freak out mode . Naked nails , self-trimmed hair , jeans , an old top and jewellery and shoes from a few seasons ago . Feels fine to me :).

Earlier today I broke out my matching set sweatsuit ( DD , always good for a comment , noted my trendiness ) which I ordered a month ago and had yet to try on ( lol) with my fav coat . Needed footwear to balance the coat and the dark sweats so chose my cream-soled black DV’s . No makeup , but did put on some earrings . Effortless would have been an unmatched set with more rugged boots and an oversize puffer ?

Anyways - off to greet my guests and enjoy the evening . Comments welcome ! And pardon the mess behind me - extra coats moved out of the coat closet to make room for guests . And pardon extra photos - I’m on my phone and can’t see what I’m adding , lol.

Gorgeous and effortlessly chic! I love the sparkly black loafers—I think they balance out the lace puffy sleeves quite nicely! The champagne flats look great with your hair though. Fab sweat outfit too! Have fun tonight!

Fab outfit, Lisa -- I love the top on you. Lace is so festive. And sparkly black shoes are gorgeous! The outfit looks perfect. Casually glam. I love that kind of combo for at-home entertaining. I will often wear my lace blouse and jeans or my velvet shirt and jeans.

Love the sweatsuit on you, too! Because of you I ordered the same one in the wild current colour. But the colour wasn't good on me in the end -- a bit too greyed out, interestingly enough, even though I typically wear those softer tones pretty well -- and I think the cut of the top is better on someone with more of a bust than I have -- it kind of poofed out in a weird way on me which it doesn't on you. I was pleasantly surprised by the nice fabric and the luxe feel of it. The brown looks gorgeous on you!

Thank you all The evening was perfect and I felt totally at ease and comfortable . I did wear the loafers and loved them . I don’t think I’ve actually worn them before - they were bought for this same party a few years ago and I didn’t end up wearing them . SO comfortable !

The sweatsuit is a bit odd - for those of you who also ordered it . The pants are huge and I could easily have worn a small , but I love the longer length and volume . I ordered the top in a L to be oversized and it seems fine . DH took a photo of me decorating the tree wearing this and it’s in no way flattering - quite the opposite in fact - but it will be an around the house outfit anyways so …..

Effortless or not, this is a totally fab and chic look, perfect for the occasion! It’s a lot of work to entertain. I’d say you have got a good grasp on your wardrobe and style when you can put such a perfect outfit together with such little effort.

“Effortless” LOL, that darn word..
But yep, your outfit does look perfectly effortless, lovely black lace top, nice jeans and great shoes, and you didn’t even need to buy anything new to achieve it.
Hosting is a lot of work, glad it went so well.
And the jogger outfit is a great colour on you and looks good with the boots and shacket.

Love both of these looks! The pointy-toe shoes (loafers?) in the first few pics are fantastic, and I love your chocolatey sweat suit--it looks fab with your cream coat and boots! Your house looks lovely as well. We are totally slacking--just put up lights outside today, and are still scrambling to buy gifts for the kids...

I found the pants on the sweatsuit large, too, but I liked them. Honestly, I'd have kept the whole thing but the cut of the jacket just didn't work for me. I really loved the quality of the fabric, though -- it rivalled last year's BR version, I feel, and for the price was a much better deal! I didn't keep the BR version either, despite loving the colour -- something about it just felt not right on me. Anyway, YOU look fab in this and I love love love the brown.
