The tortured tale of the EF dress.
I got this dress awhile back is the smallest regular size Nordies had. It’s supposed to be oversized and Angie and all the kind fabbers approved. Yet I was compelled to try a smaller size from Macy’s.

I thought that one was TOO small.

Sidebar related: this dress has lovely lines but is prone to wardrobe malfunction due to its semi- wrap style which is not secured . When I sit down, the front drape panel falls to the right and the inner panel falls to the left, thus exposing me from waist down!
I think that is fixable by tacking the inner and outer panels together at one or two points but I think it is best to do that at the inner side seam so can tack edge of one to seam allowances and thus not stitch or pull on the actual body of the silk fabric. Hence I need enough fullness at the hip for this which my original size ( XS) allowed. Plus this size has better length.

Despite that I still wished it fit a little snugger through the armholes and neckline. It’s a dress in which I really have to “ stand tall with shoulders back” ( which is of course how I SHOULD stand) because if I slump it looks saggy.
Fast forward to my recent exercise better eating program and a small weight loss and so I thought it might be looking TOO oversized but now there is no XXS available. In my panic- whack I tried a petite XS and frustratingly, I like how it fitted up top better but it’s just too short. Not indecent, but just not me.

Thus IS my only available dress for an upcoming family wedding. My plan is white twisted pearl necklace, which brightens and summerizes , and I have shoes in the style shown but a softer beigier metallic, which are dressier but still practical for walking, standing, dancing.

Now if you’re still here, see the TB clutch Find.

I don’t have a clutch or bag I like for this outfit and could have done white, but didn’t find “ the one”, plus I had this vision of something with white and beige or something that would sort of tie things together. ( if I were wearing with black shoes I would consider a black & white graphic)

I ordered this one knowing the photos showed it was VERY slim, meaning won’t hold much, but was hoping. Also it’s quite faux material.

Well— the color and pattern are PERFECT for the outfit but yes, it’s super slim and rigid. Will only hold a few slim things . It will hold reading glasses for example but not sunnies. I’m also annoyed that the wrist strap is attached on what I consider the “ wrong” end. But as an accessory it does add a great touch- ties everything together and pops against the red, while dress brings out the bit of same red in the purse.

So now I have a dilemma as to whether to keep it. I just wish it were more versatile size because the color/pattern would actually be versatile for me with other wardrobe berry colors and pales in spring and summer. It’s an important family wedding and I’m not MOB or MOG hence don’t have to be the “pack mule” and I can afford to be “ impractical “ for this one part of the outfit ( and I can repeat the entire outfit for some other occasions) so at this late date I might just talk myself into it.

Comments appreciated if you’re still here!

ETA added photos but not slumping. The creases are packing creases--have not ironed/steamed yet and have not tacked the layers together (have not cut tags yet) so that might help it look smoother.
