Dresses I am considering

Well, I continued my search for dresses end eventually found few that I like and consider ordering. Two Boden ones I would order in longer length. What do you think? Do you like any of those? Which one should I order? Do you have some other recommendation for me? Do they look to casual for work (yellow one definitely)? Too summery for spring? Too much color, should I go with neutral? Should I just wait little longer and keep on searching? Do I have too many questions?

It depends on your climate, but all say mild-to fairly cold weather to me. Like cold spring.

Suntiger - it is cold spring in my office from April until September. I am always freezing. I have to remember I need toppers too

I like #2, 3, 4 and 6 best.

#1 and #5 are as great, if they're not too body con and don't ride up when you walk and sit.

#4 is probably a bit casual for work - especially if it's linen. But great for weekends.

For me, these are all Summer dresses. But I run cold and like to be covered. If we had a warm Spring, I'd wear them too. All bets are off in arctic a/c. I can't stand it!

Nice choices! I've seen a lot of patterns similar to 1 recently, and think this is a good cut for the office. We know from today's post that 2 will be super on you. The pattern in 3 is unusual for you--I'd like to see it on you. I bet you could pull off 5 nicely.

The full skirts and bow belts on 4 & 6 look flirty to me.

I think that they all have merit but as ever you will have to try them on to know which is best.Are you leaning towards any of them more than others?

Angie - we do have a warm spring, but my problem is, office is very cold, we have central AC that is adjusted for man wearing suits, not women in summer dresses. So I just don’t know which way to go about this. I hate being cold, I can’t function. Even bare legs are problem for me.

2 and 6 are my favorites. I’m just partial to sheath and shirt dresses in classic colors and patterns to start out with. I think you have almost all occasions covered with those two. I think they are also pretty seasonless. You can switch out a bunch of cardigans and jackets and shoes to make a totally different look. The other dresses are also very pretty.
Wait a minute, the yellow shirt dress is a must try too!

Cardiff girls - not really, I am actually very uncertain about all this. Just have this idea that I want to wear more dresses instead of pants, but I haven’t figured out all the details around it.
FashIntern - you think I should order them all and try? Any that I should not be bothered?

Stylewise, I actually consider the yellow dress and the blue&white dress as the ones best suited for work. Absolutely not casual. They look decent, elegant, and perfect for spring as well as summer. (In addition, they have cheerful, young, playful vibes and would look great also for other occasions than work.). If you want to tone down the yellow colour a bit, just wear this dress with a neutral--perhaps patterned-- topper or big scarf and neutral footwear.

In your spring summer finds you have yellow, orange and blue stripe blazers, though I know you have bright toppers too!

Aliceinwonderland - I agree with you, I think sheat dresses are easier to combine with toppers and that is the silhouette that I am familiar with. I would need to experiment with others.
The Cat - yellow dress comes also in white - looks great but not sure it will go with my white hair.

Suntiger - I wear all this blazers with pants, not sure about proportions with dresses, especially flared ones. Once upon a time I did wear a lot of sleeveless sheath dresses with cropped cashmere cardigans, but not sure that is the way I want to go now.

Anchie, yes! If returns aren't a problem, and because this is a new direction for you, try them all. The two that I find too flirty are among Angie's favorites, which outweighs me.

Oh, white clothes can be stunning with white hair--but often best with a contrasting colour. So if you consider to wear the white dress (which in my opinion, will look more summery than springy), try it with a scarf or topper in a different colour.

Love 2, 3, 5, and 6 for work. I’d love to know the source of 5! I almost bought 2, in a different colorway, but found myself gravitating to slightly longer dresses this winter.

I have these 2 Boden’s in last year’s colors.

Definitely order long if you are more than 5’5”. The long in #1 hits me just below the knee and I’m 5’7”.

Re#1, it may be a bit roomy on top. I sized up initially, but came back down and had my tailor add an extra dart to shape the bust.

Re#2, I love this dress enough to repeat it, I have in denim for weekends and teal for business casual days. Super comfy, and easy to throw on and go. It’s too casual for me to wear in front of customers, but that’s a “know your office” situation,

I'm with Angie on #2, 3, 4. They seem most in your wheelhouse based on posted WIW pics. It seems you've been collecting blush items, as well as yellow. #2 is my favourite of the bunch.

I'd rethink the dresses and make sure you can wear them WITH LAYERS for work.

How annoying about the AC! You have toppers you could wear with these, but what about your legs & feet? Winter dresses can be cozy warm with thick tights and boots. Are you OK with hose, and are they warm enough, if you go with closed-toe pumps or loafers? If not, you might want to go play with your summer pants to see if you can find some joy, and hold off on the dresses until fall. Grr.

I like 2, 4, and 6. The shape of 3 is fine, but I wouldn’t have chosen those colors for you. 1 and 5 are too body con for my taste.

I like the yellow one for you. It will look summery because of the color. Yellow looks stunning with grey/white hair. I am trying to find my best shade.

Well, I am kind of disappointed, but I think I should accept reality of my everyday life and rethink all this. Dresses don’t seems so practical for my work wear for spring summer season. I am not saying impossible but it will be challenge to find appropriate dresses and successfully combine them with toppers and shoes for sufficient insulation in AC.
Fall winter season will probably be easier to manage, tights and knee high boots can be warm enough.
So I may concentrate on spring summer dresses for weekends and casual wear only, and continue wearing pants for work and do the opposite in fall winter season.

At least the change of silhouettes on evenings and weekends will give you a break. I don´t have much to add - not good at dresses. Just wanted to say that I love the yellow one. Would it be "your" yellow colour? Maybe for free time?

It it helps... I often use a neutral knitted shawl or poncho for layering over items at work. It obscures the look of my outfits a bit, but I don't care about that when I'm at my desk.

Katerina and FashiIntern - I will definitely get more casual dresses but trying to sit on my hands at the moment until I figure this little better.
Christina F - this is great idea! I do have my winter office poncho that I am wearing almost daily and actually right now. But it didn’t occur to me that I can have something like that for the summer too. Thank you! Back to the drawing board.
